Utah Shakespeare Festival Receives $10,000 NEA Grant

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that the Utah Shakespeare Festival is one of 886 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. The Festival is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support the world premiere adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. (more...)

The Brand Signature Series concludes Aurora Theatre's 18th season with the hysterical Don't Dress for Dinner by Marc Camoletti. The show runs May 1-25, 2014. In this this hilarious romp through the French countryside, Bernard concocts a romantic rendezvous with his mistress with an alibi courtesy of his friend, Robert. But Bernard's wife decides on a surprise tryst of her own. With a gourmet cook and a randy mistress-both named Suzy-a wacky collision course of mistaken identity and outrageous infidelity ensues. When BOEING BOEING first landed on Broadway in 1965, it only ran for 23 performances. However, in 2008 the French Comedy, penned by Marc Camoletti and translated by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans, was revised and re-opened on Broadway. This version fared much better, garnering positive reviews. Playhouse 1960 is producing the reworked script and showing audiences why this play is a favorite of audiences and theatre companies alike. Marc Camoletti's 1960 play BOEING BOEING was translated into English by Beverly Cross. The comedic piece found success in London, running for seven years in its original production, but it failed to capture American audiences. In 1991, it was named in the Guinness Book of Records as the most performed French play throughout the world, and The Texas Repertory Theatre's sprightly production certainly indicates why it is so endearing.
