Berkeley Rep's Artistic Director Johanna Pfaelzer today announced three additional virtual projects for the fall. The season, titled Rep On-Air, will include collaborations with Tony Award nominee Raúl Esparza (Company, Speed-the-Plow, and Taboo), celebrated New Yorker cartoon artist Tom Toro, Pulitzer Finalist Eisa Davis, and Bay Area favorite Hershey Felder.

Today we rewind to 2010, when American Idiot opened on Broadway at the St. James Theatre, where it played for 422 performances. Directed by Michael Mayer, it starred John Gallagher, Jr., Stark Sands, Michael Esper, Tony Vincent, Rebecca Naomi Jones and Christina Sajous. 

Now streaming on Amazon Prime is Riding The D With Dr Seeds, a new web series that uses the D train, Manhattan's iconic subway line that connects the Bronx to Coney Island, Brooklyn as the backdrop for an original and uncanny portrait of mental health. It stars Sarah Seeds (Inside Amy Schumer) as Dr. Seeds, an 'underground' unhinged non-licensed psychiatrist who doles out unsolicited medical advice to her patients on the subway while battling her own dark past.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today revealed all seven productions for the 2021 subscription season. The shows announced include the West Coast premiere and season opener Sanctuary City by Martyna Majok; the world premiere musical Goddess by Saheem Ali; the world premiere musical Swept Away and more.

The new musical Swept Away, featuring the music of The Avett Brothers, scheduled to have its world premiere at Berkeley Rep as part of their 2019-20 season, has announced today that the production will be moved to similar dates in the summer of 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As if their journey isn't treacherous enough, they begin to sense that they're not alone in the murky ocean depths. Also starring Vincent Cassel, Jessica Henwick, John Gallagher Jr., Mamoudou Athie and T.J. Miller, Underwater is a chilling, suspenseful adventure that's filled with nonstop action from start to finish.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced today the full cast for the upcoming world premiere musical, Swept Away.

Two rock bands featuring stage stars - Sky-Pony led by Lauren Worsham (Tony nominee, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) - and Lakes with Libby Winters (American Idiot, Oliver Kitteridge) and John Gallagher Jr. (Tony Award winner for Spring Awakening, HBO's Newsroom and 10 Cloverfield Lane) will join forces at NYC's Mercury Lounge on 3/8.

When Green Day's American Idiot arrived on Broadway in 2010, it received a mixed response. When I saw the original Broadway production, I thought the cast was glorious and found the Book, like everyone else, safe; an emotional roller coaster. Furthermore, you have the rocking score of Green Day's Grammy-winning album the musical is based on. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience seeing it on the Great White Way, and I am delighted Oakdale's Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC) has added it to their current season.
