Creator Joe Swanberg's “Easy” returns for a third and final season on May 10, only on Netflix. This season of the anthology series consists of nine episodes and will feature some new faces as well as many returning fan favorite characters, all of whom are navigating the modern maze of love, sex, technology, and culture in Chicago.

St. Edward's University's choice for their spring musical is aptly named. While the words 'spring awakening' invoke images of beautiful flowers or a warm spring day, this musical contains everything but, with central themes of sexuality, religion, abuse, suicide, guilt and repression. I'll be blunt: go see this production. The cast of St. Edwards University blesses the audience with their talent, capturing the heartbreak, hope, and surprising humor that's integral to SPRING AWAKENING, based on the 1891 German play of the same name by Frank Wedekind.

Indie film icon John Gallagher will be honored by HeartShare Charities with the Linda Dano Heart Award at their annual spring gala on March 21, 2019 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. The award honors a celebrity who has demonstrated the highest commitment to the betterment of the lives of at-risk populations, particularly those with intellectual/ developmental disabilities and/or children and youth. Founded in 1914, HeartShare is a leading charity with diverse social and medical programs.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today unveiled its feature film lineup. Continuing its tradition of elevating exceptional storytelling rooted in today's global film communities, the 18th annual Festival will showcase debut works from emerging talent and new works from notable filmmakers. The program includes discoveries, comedies, music-centered, political and social films. The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 24 - May 5.  

Roundabout Theatre Company's new Broadway production of Sam Shepard's Tony & Pulitzer Prize-nominated drama True West, directed by James Macdonald (The Children), opened last night at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd Street), for a limited engagement through March 17, 2019.

Barrow Street Theatricals' highly anticipated American premiere of the Nassim Soleimanpour and Bush Theatre production of Nassim by celebrated Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour (White Rabbit Red Rabbit), featuring direction by Omar Elerian, opened just last night, Wednesday, December 12, at New York City Center, Stage II (131 West 55th Street).

Award-Winning Producer/Director Sam Borowski announced two new cast members to his latest production, a short titled Gabriella. The Indie Veteran will return to the director's chair with an original script he wrote.

Brooklyn indie rockers LAKES will self-release their anticipated debut EP Just to Feel the Feeling December 1, 2018. The creation of actor/musician couple—Libby Winters (guitar, vocals) and John Gallagher Jr. (drums), LAKES is a love letter to their 90's era grunge-rock heroes which makes perfect sense considering the two of them met while performing on Broadway in Green Day's rock musical, American Idiot.

Variety reports that Amazon has set an all-star cast for its upcoming New York Times column-based anthology series “Modern Love.”

Danforth, The Miseducation of Cameron Post follows the titular character (Chloë Grace Moretz) as she is sent to a gay conversion therapy center after getting caught having sex with the prom queen. Run by the strict Dr. Lydia Marsh (Jennifer Ehle) and her brother, Reverend Rick (John Gallagher Jr.) — himself an example of how those in the program can be “cured” — the center is populated by teens 'struggling with same-sex attraction.' In the face of outlandish discipline, dubious methods, and earnest Christian rock songs, Cameron forms an unlikely gay community, including the amputee stoner Jane (Sasha Lane) and the Lakota Two-Spirit, Adam (Forrest Goodluck). In creating a family on her own terms, she learns what it means to empower herself and have confidence in her identity.

Two rock bands featuring stage stars - John Gallagher Jr. (Tony Award winner for Spring Awakening, American Idiot, also HBO's Newsroom and 10 Cloverfield Lane) and Lauren Worsham (Tony nominee, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) - will join forces at NYC's Mercury Lounge on 12/1.

New York indie icon John Gallagher will be honored with a Lifetime Career Achievement Award on October 21 at the inaugural Cutting Room International Short Film Festival. A fixture on the New York scene for 40 years as a director, writer, producer, author, historian and educator, with a wide range of international filmmaking resources and relationships, and a highly regarded, encyclopedic knowledge of films and filmmaking, his track record is especially strong in discovering and mentoring new talent, both in front of and behind the camera.

'The Best of Enemies' starring Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell has gotten an April 5th release date from STXfilms, according to Variety.
