The Golden Theatre was the place to be last night as Suzan-Lori Parks' Pulitzer Prize-winning Topdog/Underdog officially opened on Broadway. Directed by Tony Award-winner Kenny Leon, it stars Emmy Award-winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Candyman) and Tony Award-nominee Corey Hawkins (In the Heights, The Tragedy of Macbeth). Now you can dress up and get spooky for Broadway’s biggest Halloween event of the year both live at Sony Hall and in the comfort of your own home! Jay Armstrong Johnson’s I Put a Spell on You will stream on Broadway On Demand beginning at 7 pm Eastern on Sunday, October 30, 2022 and be available for the following four days.

Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago announces the first instalment of its 2022–23 Lieder Lounge recital  series, My Sister's Keeper: Dunbar Edition, which will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2022 in Ganz Hall at  Roosevelt University beginning at 7:30pm. A second performance will be presented in partnership with the Chicago  Music Association on November 20, 2022 at 4pm, held at the South Shore Cultural Center. 

Jay Armstrong Johnson’s annual sold-out Halloween concert-meets-party I Put a Spell on You returns LIVE at New York City’s Sony Hall on Sunday, October 23, 2022. Broadway stars joining this year’s adventure include Major Attaway, Nick Rashad Burroughs, Gavin Creel, Robyn Hurder and more.

After several sold out performances around NYC and building an incredible following of likeminded folx across differences, Britton Smith entered a partnership with a black/queer owned theater company called JAG productions in White River Junction Vermont, to embark on a month long residency to find a narrative based theatrical experience. Britton has found a unique and dynamic experience that lives at the intersection of a stadium rock show, Church, Theater and high art.

 Broadway Black presents The 2nd Annual Antonyo Awards, which honors Black theatre artists during the 2021-2022 season. The live, in-person ceremony will be held on Monday, October 10 at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem (253 West 125th Street). Awards in 29 competitive categories and five honorary categories will be presented along with performances and guest appearances. 

JAG Productions, a Vermont and New York City-based company serving as an artistic sanctuary for Black creatives in the American theatre, announced its 2022/2023 line-up this week.

JAG Productions, a Vermont and New York City-based theatre company centering Black and Black queer storytelling, is partnering with King Arthur Baking Company at their picturesque Norwich campus for another year of JAG's Theatre on the Hill — for four outdoor performances only. 

The star-studded New York City Center Encores! production of James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's beloved musical, Into the Woods, officially opened on Broadway at the St. James Theatre. On Monday, June 6th, Second Stage Theater will host the Fair Chance Job Fair. Fair Chance Hiring means that employers refrain from including questions about conviction history in the application process before a job offer is made. 

The Cody Renard Richard Scholarship Program and Broadway Advocacy Coalition organized a weekend in New York for its ten program scholars to encourage them to continue in their work in the theater industry.

MJ the Musical celebrated its 10 Tony Award nominations last night with a party at Tavern on the Green! BroadwayWorld was there and you can check out photos here.

A Strange Loop has arrived on Broadway at last and we've got photos of the stars on the opening night purple carpet. The Broadway production of Michael R. Jackson's Pulitzer-Prize winning musical, opened just last week at the Lyceum Theater.

 The TEDxBroadway TEN stage is now set as organizers today revealed the final speakers rounding out the complete lineup for the milestone event being held Tuesday, May 17 at 1pm Eastern.
