Bristol Old Vic has announced the full cast for their world premiere production of Gareth Farr’s new play A Child of Science, telling the pioneering story of Robert Edwards, Patrick Steptoe and Jean Purdy’s creation of IVF, and the army of women whose bravery helped them achieve the impossible.

Madame Web comes home! The 2024 Marvel film starring Dakota Johnson will receive a Blu-ray and 4K release on April 30. Though only released in February, Madame Web has quickly become a cult classic. In addition to Johnson as the titular Madame, the supporting cast includes Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.

Ayo Edebiri will host “Saturday Night Live” for the first time. Edebiri stars on “The Bear,” for which she recently won an Emmy, Critics Choice and Golden Globe Award. Jennifer Lopez will make her fourth appearance as musical guest, having previously hosted three times. Her upcoming album “This Is Me ... Now.'

“Saturday Night Live” returns Jan. 20 with Jacob Elordi making his hosting debut. Elordi currently stars in the award-nominated films “Priscilla” and “Saltburn.” Reneé Rapp will perform as musical guest for the first time. Rapp, whose discography has amassed over 568 million streams, currently stars in the film “Mean Girls,” in theaters now.

TheaterWorks Hartford will present the New England Premiere of Queen of Basel by Hilary Bettis. Featuring an all Latinx cast and creative team, Queen of Basel runs February 3–26, 2023 at TheaterWorks Hartford’s historic home.

TheaterWorks Hartford, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Rob Ruggiero, has announced details for its upcoming 2022–2023 season which is filled with great music, captivating stories, and world-class writing.

The HCA reveals a line up of presenters including; Alfonso Herrera, Ana de la Reguera, Auli'i Cravalho, Celina Smith, Chloe Cherry, Colman Domingo, Danny Pudi, Dichen Lachman, Garret Dillahunt, Genevieve Angelson, Hannah Waddingham, Johnny Sibilly, James Lance, Jaren Lewison, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Michelle Visage, and more.

Viewers took a deep dive into the epic animated adventure The Sea Beast. The story of Maisie and Jacob landed in the #1 spot (two weeks in a row!) on the English Films List and holds the record for the most hours viewed in a week for an animated film with 68.11M hours viewed. Directed by Chris Williams, the film was in the Top 10 in 93 countries.

Netflix has shared the trailer for Persuasion. Based on the novel by Jane Austen, the film stars Dakota Johnson, Cosmo Jarvis, Richard E. Grant, Henry Golding, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Ben Bailey-Smith, Yolanda Kettle, Nia Towle, and Izuka Hoyle.

Tina Satter's Is This A Room, which premiered on Broadway in 2021, will be adapted into a new film. The new film will star Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney as Reality Winner. The cast is also set to include Josh Hamilton and Marchánt Davis. Satter will adapt the script for the new film with James Paul Dallas.

Apple TV+ has released the trailer for “Cha Cha Real Smooth” ahead of its streaming and theatrical debut. Second Thought Theatre has announced their full production of Dry Powder. After a brief, COVID-related slowdown, Dry Powder will serve as the opening production of the 2022 season.

Pierce Brosnan, Kaya Scodelario, and Benjamin Walker star in the epic fantasy adventure film narrated by Academy Award winner Julie Andrews. Own The King's Daughter with never-before-seen extras on digital on April 4th on Blu Ray and DVD April 19th from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and Gravitas Ventures. 

Gravitas Ventures, an Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company, will release Glimpse, a new film written and directed by Theresa Rebeck, May 6 in theaters and on-demand worldwide.

According to a Deadline article, Dakota Johnson is now in conversations with Sony to play Madame Web in an upcoming film. Variety says that the news has been confirmed, which makes Johnson the first female superhero to have a title role in any of Sony's Marvel films. The most recent Sony and Marvel movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, debuted on December 17th, 2021 to massive box office success. S.J. Clarkson will direct the Madame Web film, with a screenplay written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. 

After nine days, 84 feature films and 59 short films, the juries have deliberated and the audience has voted, and Friday night the 2022 Sundance Film Festival’s Awards were announced. The award-winning films will screen online on the Festival platform on Saturday, January 29 and Sunday, January 30. Tickets for all award screening films are now on sale.
