N'Kenge, Seph Stanek and More Set for AKHENATEN: THE MUSICAL Concert at Met Museum Next Week

Pop-opera-soul diva N'Kenge (Motown: The Musical, Sondheim on Sondheim) will be starring along with Seph Stanek and Tony LePage in the Broadway-bound musical production AKHENATEN: THE MUSICAL, set for a concert at The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Temple of Dendur, 1000 5th Avenue, New York NY, on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 6 p.m.

The production team and cast are very honored that the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Mission of Egypt to the United Nations have selected AKHENATEN: THE MUSICAL to perform highlights from the musical at their gala night in honor of Egypt's candidature for a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council for the 2016-2017 term.

The private event will take place at the Temple of Dendur in the Metropolitan Museum in front of the United Nations delegations. It will feature four songs from AKHENATEN: THE MUSICAL - "You are in Egypt," "Coronation," "Stones of times," and "O my son," performed by Broadway actors N'Kenge (Motown: The Musical), Seph Stanek (New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players) and Tony LaPage (Rock of Ages). The evening will be conducted by Ben Boecker with the participation of the AKHENATEN: THE MUSICAL ensemble: Sarah Caldwell Smith, Laura Sudduth, Anne Fraser Thomas, Diego Rios, Taso Mikroulis and Bruno Vida.

The gala night will be directed by Hisham Abdel Khalek. Akhenaten the Musical is a new Broadway- bound musical created and directed by Hisham Abdel Khalek, with a Book by Hisham Abdel Khalek and Mohamed Metwally (Lyrics), Music by Hesham Nazih and produced by Olivier Delesse, Hisham Abdel Khalek, Saad Bin Mohammed, N'Kenge Inc. and Jason Hewitt.

N'Kenge plays Queen-Ti; Akhenaten's mother who is distraught over her son's love for Nefertiti and outrageous idealism for a new country. N'Kenge continues to give the most heart-felt vocals during this Broadway bound production. Check out the music video of her performance of Queen Ti's song "O My Son" below!

Known for originating the role of Mary Wells in Broadway's Smash Hit Motown: The Musical; The NY Post called N'Kenge "Electrifying" in the role. N'Kenge made her Broadway debut in Sondheim on Sondheim alongside Barbara Cook, Vanessa Williams, Norm Lewis and Tom Wopat which was directed by Pulitzer Prize winner James Lapine.

The musical tells the story of the pharaoh AKHENATEN, his wife NEFERTITI and his son King TUT, and centers on how AKHENATEN challenged the almighty power of the priests of Ancient Egypt by imposing a single god over their many gods.
