MISS SAIGON to Hold Open Auditions in Manila for Upcoming Productions

According to Philippine news organization Inquirer.net, Cameron Mackintosh and company will soon be returning to Manila in search of future cast members for upcoming global productions of MISS SAIGON.

Open auditions will be held in March at the Opera Haus. No specific information has been announced, but spokespeople for Mackintosh have confirmed that actors will be considered for all roles, including Kim and The Engineer.

"Since casting for 'Miss Saigon' began in the mid-1980's, the Philippines has been integral to the show as a place to find exceptional Asian performers of world-class ability," Cameron Mackintosh's Head of Casting, Trevor Jackson, said in a statement. "Our teams have been returning regularly ever since. Filipino artists are the heart and soul of this show."

As previously reported, the revamped version of MISS SAIGON will officially land on Broadway, at an unnamed Shubert Theatre, in Spring 2017. The production will close on January 15, 2018, prior to launching a national tour, which will open Providence, R.I. Stops in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Washington, DC, Philadelphia and more are currently scheduled.

The musical tells the tragic tale of young bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with an American GI called Chris - but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon.

MISS SAIGON has Music by Claude-Michel Schönberg with Lyrics by Richard Maltby Jnr and Alain Boublil, adapted from Original French Lyrics by Alain Boublil with Additional Lyrics by Michael Mahler. This new production will be directed by Laurence Connor with Musical Staging by Bob Avian and Additional Choreography by Geoffrey Garratt, Production Design by Totie Driver and Matt Kinley based on an Original Concept by Adrian Vaux, Costume Design byAndreane Neofitou, Lighting Design by Bruno Poet, Sound Design by Mick Potter and Orchestrations by William DavidBrohn. Musical Supervision is by Stephen Brooker and John Rigby. Musical Direction is by Alfonso Casado Trigo.
