Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts (SBCPA), in partnership with the Santa Barbara Symphony, is proud to present My Fair Lady in Concert on Sunday, June 16 at 3:00 pm at the historic Granada Theatre. This special performance comes to Santa Barbara directly from one of the country's leading centers for the performing arts, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., with a world-class cast under the talented direction of Tony Award nominee Marcia Milgrom Dodge. The famous original score will be performed by the Santa Barbara Symphony, under the direction of James Moore.

Recently staged for the first time ever at the Kennedy Center, members from this all-star cast are coming to Santa Barbara for this one-time-only performance of My Fair Lady in Concert, including Tony Award winner Gregory Jbara as Alfred P. Doolittle, Olivier Award winner Laura Michelle Kelly as Eliza Doolittle, Academy Award and multiple Emmy Award winner Cloris Leachman as Mrs. Higgins. Kennedy Center's Follies cast member Florence Lacey appears as Mrs. Pearce, two-time Tony Award winner Jonathan Pryce as Henry Higgins, Max von Essen as Freddy Eynsford-Hill, and Michael York as Colonel Pickering.

The famed 1956 musical My Fair Lady in Concert features book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner with music by Frederick Loewe. The story is adapted from George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion about a poor Cockney flower girl (Eliza Doolittle) who takes speech lessons from a snobbish phonetics professor (Henry Higgins) in order to pass for a lady in high society. It features some of Broadway's most beloved scores including "The Rain in Spain," "I Could Have Danced All Night," and "Get Me to the Church on Time."

This special performance of My Fair Lady in Concert is part of the SBCPA's efforts to develop a musical theater program of the highest caliber for the community. As a result of the growing popularity of Broadway musical theater, musical TV shows and movies, and Santa Barbara's rich tradition of community-based musical Theater Productions, SBCPA has made it a priority to bring more of these entertaining performances to The Granada Theatre for the entire Santa Barbara community to enjoy. This star-studded performance of My Fair Lady in Concert is made possible in part by generous support from Betty J. Stephens and Lindsay J. Fisher, Robert and Prudence Sternin, and Eric and Nina Phillips.
