A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder 's Robert L. Freedman has won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical.

Freedman received the Fred Ebb and Kleban awards for the musicals A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and Campaign of the Century with Steven Lutvak, and was nominated for Emmy and Writers Guild awards for the television miniseries Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows.

Other teleplays include Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (WGA nomination), HBO's A Deadly Secret (WGA winner), What Makes A Family (GLAAD Award, Humanitas finalist), Murder In The Hamptons, The Pastor's Wife, Honor Thy Mother, What Love Sees, Bitter Blood, and Broadway Sings The Music of Jule Styne (PBS).

Stage works include The Beast of Broadway: The Life and Times of David Merrick, written with Faye Greenberg, and the musical Grand Duchy, with composer John Bayless.

Following critically acclaimed, smash-hit runs at The Hartford Stage and San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder stars Tony Award Winner Jefferson MaysandBryce Pinkham, and features Lisa O'Hare, Lauren Worsham, Jane Carr, Pamela Bob, Joanna Glushak,Eddie Korbich, Jeff Kready, Mark Ledbetter, Jennifer Smith, Price Waldman, and Catherine Walker. The show officially opened on Sunday, November 17.

A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder features a book by Robert L. Freedman, music by Steven Lutvak, and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. Darko Tresnjak directs and Peggy Hickey choreographs.
