A new leading lady prepares to star in the West End CATS revival!

West End star Beverley Knight is set to headline the new revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's popular musical CATS later this year and a first look at the star in in rehearsal to play central figure Grizabella in an extended video with the composer himself, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, is now available to view.

In the video, Knight reveals she studied the works of T.S. Eliot while attending school, sharing, "I did THE WASTELAND and THE LOVE SONG OF J. ALFRED PRUFROCK," prompting Lloyd Webber to share the story behind the score's most famous anthem, "Memory".

"What we did was we went into the work of T.S. Eliot to find feline references in the main body of his work - and 'Memory' is based on something from FOUR QUARTETS."

"Really, when CATS really works at its best is when we remember the central premise of T.S. Eliot's writing," Lloyd Webber concludes.

Earlier today, a shorter version of the video was released, as BroadwayWorld reported here.

The official description of CATS is as follows: "Don't miss the return of the critically acclaimed, 2015 Olivier award-nominated, new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS at the London Palladium for a strictly limited season from 23 October 2015 to 2 January 2016, starring the Queen of British Soul Beverley Knight as Grizabella.

Following last year's sell-out season in the West End, this new production of the "groundbreaking musical" (Daily Express) is absolutely "perfect for the festive season" (Daily Telegraph) and truly gives CATS a new life for a new generation."

More information on CATS is available at the official site here.
