Carmike Cinemas to Bring Broadway's RENT and Cirque Due Soleil to Movie Screens

Carmike Cinemas, Inc. announced today that Cirque Du Soleil's "Delirium" and the Broadway hit "Rent" will be featured on 176 digital screens through Sony's The Hot Ticket, at local Carmike theatres.

The Hot Ticket offers an opportunity for entertainment consumers to experience highly anticipated and sold-out events in an enhanced Carmike theatre setting with one-of-a-kind programming. For fans of Broadway shows, rock concerts, or premier sporting events, The Hot Ticket will provide a community experience to see some of the world's best entertainment on larger-than-life digital screens.

Starting Wednesday August 20, 2008 Carmike Cinemas will feature Cirque Du Soleil's "Delirium" on 176 of its digital screens. Inspired by some of the most memorable musical moments of Cirque Du Soleil, "Delirium" remixes Cirque music and adds lyrics. The show featuring musicians, dancers, singers and acrobatics, transports audiences into a unique and mystical universe, driven by percussive-driven pop, melodious ballads and worldbeat-inspired rhythms. The presentation will be the final staging of "Delirium" which closed its multi year, worldwide tour at London's O2 Arena. Showtimes for this event are Wednesday, August 20, and Thursday August 21, 2008, at 7:00 pm, and Saturday, August 23, 2008 and Sunday August 24, 2008 at 1:00 pm. Starting Wednesday September 24, 2008, Carmike Cinemas will bring the Broadway musical hit "Rent" to the big digital screen. The Hot Ticket will take audiences to the heart of New York City to celebrate the conclusion of the 12-year Broadway run of "Rent", the revolutionary, landmark musical. This memorable presentation will feature special closing night extras, when original cast members of the Tony-and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical are expected to join and celebrate in the farewell festivities. The presentation is produced by the Academy Award®-winning producers @ radical.media.
