For our production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee we auditioned and cast 6 extremely talented local youth and asked 3 local professionals to join our cast and share their talents in this hilarious piece. The Hub is a host for talented performing artists from this community as well as from afar. This production demonstrates the caliber and quality of local performance that we plan to host here at the Hub. In this show, an eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box. Presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). Director: Kianna Bromley
Music & Lyrics by William Finn, Book by Rachel Sheinkin
Assistant Director: Anna Blackburn
