De Emma Rice Company heeft de volledige casting aangekondigd voor Rice's bewerking van Tristan & Yseult. De productie werd oorspronkelijk geproduceerd in 2003 en was voor het laatst op het podium te zien in 2017. De productie is coproductie met York Theatre Royal en Nottingham Playhouse en gaat op tournee door het Verenigd Koninkrijk, met previews in Theatre Royal Bath vanaf 11 september 2026, als onderdeel van het driejarige partnerschap van het gezelschap met de locatie, getiteld The Director's Cut. De voorstelling is tevens te zien in St Ann's Warehouse in New York van 1 t/m 22 november.
John Leader en Nandi Bhebhe leiden de cast als Tristan en Yseult. Zij worden vergezeld door Matthew Churcher (Frocin), Tom Fox (Morholt en Brangian), Jack Heydon (Love Spotter), Stephanie Hockley (Whitehands), Edward Rowe (Koning Mark) en Nigel Sudarkasa (Love Spotter). In de band spelen Pat Moran, Stu Barker, Harry Miller, Philippa Hogg en als alternatief voor de New Yorkse reeks Mary Johnson.
Oorspronkelijk geproduceerd door Kneehigh en Emma Rice opende Tristan & Yseult in de open lucht bij Restormel Castle in Cornwall en Rufford Abbey in Nottinghamshire. In 2004 speelde het in het Minack Theatre in Porthcurno, voordat het in 2005 werd heruitgevonden als een binnenshow voor de Cottesloe van het National Theatre. Deze UK-tour is de eerste keer sinds 2017 dat Tristan & Yseult weer aan publiek wordt gepresenteerd.
Geschreven door Anna Maria Murphy en Carl Grose en bewerkt en geregisseerd door Rice, wordt het creatieve team aangevuld door Stu Barker (componist), Simon Baker (geluidsontwerper), Malcolm Rippeth (lichtontwerper), Etta Murfitt (choreograaf & intimiteitscoördinator), met het originele decor- en kostuumontwerp van Bill Mitchell, vernieuwd door Vicki Mortimer.
Ervaar de originele, kritisch bejubelde productie van Tristan & Yseult - een van de meest invloedrijke theaterproducties van de 21e eeuw. Bewerkt en geregisseerd door Emma Rice, keert deze iconische show na tien jaar terug in het VK en biedt daarmee een zeldzame kans om een modern meesterwerk live en vers op het podium te aanschouwen.

Rauw, speels en hartverscheurend mooi, deze internationaal geprezen productie combineert mythe, muziek, beweging en verhaal tot een onvergetelijke avond theater. Deze baanbrekende show, die een wereldwijde generatie kunstenaars en publiek heeft geïnspireerd, is nu opnieuw gemaakt, opnieuw gemasterd – en absoluut onmisbaar.
Biografieën
Nandi Bhebhe speelt Yseult. Haar werk voor het gezelschap omvat Wuthering Heights en Bagdad Café. Andere theaterproducties waarin zij speelde zijn onder meer Les Liaisons Dangereuses (National Theatre), The Little Mermaid (Bristol Old Vic), Twine (Yard Theatre), Robin Hood: The Legend Re-Written (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre), Europeana (Royal Shakespeare Company), Faultline (Gate Theatre), Ubu! A Singalong Satire (UK-tour), A Monster Calls (The Old Vic), Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare's Globe) en 946 (UK-tour). Op televisie was ze te zien in The Dream Lands, Emmerdale en The Jetty; in film speelde ze in Your Fault: London, The Thing with Feathers en Cyrano.
Matthew Churcher speelt Frocin. Hij werkte eerder mee aan Wuthering Heights en Little Match Girl voor het gezelschap. Zijn overige theatercredits zijn Hamlet, The BFG, The Bear & The Piano (Royal Shakespeare Company), Gypsy, Brief Encounter, The Secret Garden, A Streetcar Named Desire (Pitlochry Festival Theatre), Animal Farm, All Or Nothing (UK-tours), Wolves In The Walls (Little Angel Theatre), Pippi Longstocking (Royal and Derngate, Northampton), Peter Pan, Jane Eyre (National Theatre/Bristol Old Vic), War Horse (National Theatre) en White Teeth (Kiln Theatre).
Tom Fox speelt Brangian. Zijn werk voor het gezelschap omvat A Child's Christmas in Wales, Wuthering Heights, The Little Match Girl en Happier Tales. Jack Heydon speelt Love Spotter. Op televisie was hij te zien in The Witcher, Shakespeare and Hathaway, Beyond Paradise, Strike, House of the Dragon, Alex Ryder en Delicious. Zijn filmcredits omvatten Rose of Nevada, Edge of Summer, Enys Men en Bait. Edward is geboren en getogen in Cornwall en treedt regelmatig op als stand-up comedian in de rol van zijn personage Kernow King (De Koning van Cornwall).
Nigel Sudarkasa speelt Love Spotter. Hij is recent afgestudeerd aan LAMDA en zijn theatercredits omvatten A Midsummer Night's Dream (Orange Tree Theatre).
