Review: THE GUY WHO DIDN’T LIKE MUSICALS, Apollo Theatre
by Clementine Scott - May 16, 2026
It’s clear before the curtain rises – before you’ve even set foot in the theatre – that The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals is about more than the sum of its parts. Review: SABRAGE, Lafayette
by Franco Milazzo - May 11, 2026
Cabaret-circus-champagne extravaganza Sabrage has been refreshed just in time to lift our hearts in this sorry hour. Wars continue in the Middle East despite claims of a “ceasefire”. Fuel and food prices are heading north for the summer. Fascism leers openly on both sides of the Atlantic. The thirteenth season of Love Island is launching in less than a month. These are desperate times which force one to look deep into one’s soul and quietly ask: what kind of world are we leaving to Cher?
Review: FOAL, Finborough Theatre
by Aliya Al-Hassan - May 9, 2026
Titas Halder's new play Foal is named after some of the night terrors that visit his protagonist as he sinks into a mental black hole. A study of personal relationships and a fight to find compassion in an often hostile world, we follow A.K., a man recalling and reliving sections of his life as his demons close in on him. He lives on an island with his family and is one of only two Asian children in his school. His childhood, teens and adulthood are punctuated by an undercurrent of racism which, along with a highly problematic relationship with his mother, combine to create a turmoil in his mind that has devastating consequences.
