As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, Doris Roberts, best known for her Emmy-winning role on the sitcom EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND, passed away Sunday, April 17, in Los Angeles. She was 90 years old.

MIX a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have Limelight Theatre's latest production, The 39 Steps. Adapted from the John Buchan novel by Patrick Barlow, it is best known from the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock film adaptation - Barlow turned the spy thriller into a comedy in 2005 with four actors playing a wide variety of roles. Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.

Maine State Music Theatre hosted its second talkback in its series, 'A Peek Behind the Curtain,' on July 2, 2014, at the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick. The six-person panel moderated by BWW's Carla Maria Verdino-Sullwold, was comprised of Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark, Advisory Board and 'Angel' member Lee Gilman, Costume Rental Supervisor Amy Mussman, and actors James Patterson (Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain), Kathy Voytko (Fannie Chamberlain), and Sam Weber (Tom Chamberlain) explored the experience of creating the revival of Sarah Knapp and Steven M. Alper's musical, Chamberlain A Civil War Romance. The near-capacity crowd at the Morrell Reading Room was treated to a lively exchange among the panel members and audience, laced with the warmth, camaraderie, and obvious affection for the company and the work.

Raleigh Little Theatre presents The 39 Steps, a send-up of Alfred Hitchcock's classic thriller. Starting October 12, 2012 and running for three weeks, The 39 Steps is a tale of romance, intrigue and espionage that will leave audiences laughing for ages. "November," David Mamet's scathingly hilarious take on the lengths to which politicians will go to win an election, opens at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum October 7, 2012, at 7 p.m. Performances continue through November 4. Rehearsals have begun for David Mamet's fiendishly funny comedy "November," which will be presented at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum, September 26 through November 4, 2012. The opening is set for October 7. In addition to previously announced cast members Ed Begley, Jr., Felicity Huffman and Rod McLachlan, "November" will feature Gregory Cruz and Todd Weeks.

Romance in the age of prescription drugs... Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) continues its 27th season with the world premiere of the new comedy, Rx, written by Kate Fodor. Directed by Ethan McSweeny (Gore Vidal's The Best Man, Sabina in 2005 at Primary Stages) the cast will feature Michael Bakkensen (Noises Off, Festen), Marylouise Burke (Fuddy Meers, Into The Woods, Is He Dead?), Marin Hinkle ('Two and a Half Men', Electra), Stephen Kunken (Rock 'n' Roll, Frost/Nixon), Paul Niebanck (In the Next Room..., Shockheaded Peter), and Elizabeth Rich (Cherry Orchard, Hannah and Martin). Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) will present the New York and world premieres of a double bill of one-act plays from Atlantic's founder. TWO UNRELATED PLAYS BY David Mamet: KEEP YOUR PANTHEON AND SCHOOL, directed by Neil Pepe, will feature the ensemble cast of Jeffrey Addiss, Michael Cassidy, Steven Hawley, J.J. Johnston, Jordan Lage, Brian Murray, Rod McLachlan, John Pankow, Jonathan Rossetti, Jack Wallaceand Todd Weeks.

Director Billy Porter and Grammy nominee Ledisi mark their debuts with Reprise Theatre Company in the 1990 musical 'Once on This Island,' opening the 2008-2009 season, September 2 to 14 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. The press opening is September 3. Bradley Rapier, founder of the Groovaloos, choreographs and Darryl Archibald is the music director. Reprise Theater Company is led by Artistic Director Jason Alexander and Producing Director Susan Dietz.

On Monday night, October 16, 2005, Standing Ovations IV: From Stage to Screen and Back Again broke all previous attendance records. The benefit for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS took place at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater.
