Harvey Schmidt, the celebrated composer of The Fantasticks, visited the show for the first time in more than twenty years on Saturday, June 16, 2012. After the performance, Schmidt met with the cast including television veteran John Davidson and triple platinum recording artist Aaron Carter.

On Thursday, May 3, 2012 Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt's romantic musical comedy The Fantasticks will celebrate its 52nd anniversary. The Fantasticks currently stars triple platinum recording artist Aaron Carter as Matt. Television and stage star John Davidson will join the cast as Henry on June 1.

Having previously appeared on Broadway in SEUSSICAL: THE MUSICAL as a teen, and, now, Off-Broadway, in the revival production of the timeless musical THE FANTASTICKS, actor and pop star Aaron Carter has fit a lot of experience into his less-than-quarter-century-long life. Besides his stage roles, Carter has amassed a more than merely respectable resume, having had three chart-topping albums, numerous soundtrack featured spots and even headlining his own feature films. In this career-spanning conversation, Carter and I take a look back at his tween pop superstar heyday - with a look at his contributions to soundtracks like THE PRINCESS DIARIES - as well as his recent stint on ABC's DANCING WITH THE STARS. Also, his impressions of leading a musical as vaunted and revered as Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt's THE FANTASTICKS and the importance he places on a theatre appearances. Additionally, Carter also opens up about his desire to expand his horizons and diversify even further in his future, as well as shines a light on the rehearsal process taking on the lead role in THE FANTASTICKS and what it was like working with original show creator, Tom Jones, in preparing for the role. The Off Broadway production of The Fantasticks and the advocacy organization Women In Need have partnered to create a very special Christmas for New York City's homeless and disadvantaged women and children. From now through Christmas day, audience members who bring a donation of one of Women In Need's most requested items (see list below) to The Snapple Theater Center will have the opportunity to purchase a ticket to The Fantasticks for just $20, a savings of $55. For each item donated, The Fantasticks will donate 2 tickets to a special Christmastime performance of The Fantasticks for New York's homeless and disadvantaged women and children featuring a Christmas party with the cast of The Fantasticks - up to 200 tickets.

Nick Spangler, winner of the thirteenth season of the Emmy Award-winning reality television series The Amazing Race, will play his final performance as Matt in The Fantasticks this Sunday, December 13, 2009. Erik Altemus, last seen as Frankie Epps in the Musical Theatre Guild of Los Angeles's production of Parade, takes over the role on December 14.
