The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts winds down a sensational 2018-2019 season with even more magical, memorable and musical moments, followed by amazing opportunities this summer for talented children and teens:

Harlem One Stop, a leading uptown destination marketing organization and tour operator and originator of the Harlem Renaissance 100celebration, today announced the program for An Afternoon with Mary Lou Williams: The Lady Who Swings the Band. The film screening and concert are official events of the centennial, co-presented with Harlem Cultural Collaborative Partners, which launched in late 2018 and runs through 2020.

Miami City Ballet announces the addition of ten talented dancers to the Company roster for the 2019-20 season as well as four promotions, resulting in Miami City Ballet's biggest roster with 53 dancers.

Jacob's Pillow announces the complete schedule of Festival 2019. Featuring more than ten weeks with of over 350 ticketed and free performances, off-site pop-up performances, exhibits, talks, classes, films, and dance parties, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival 2019 runs from June 19-August 25. Celebrating its 87th season, Jacob's Pillow is the longest-running dance festival in the United States, a National Historic Landmark, and a National Medal of the Arts recipient. The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts announced today that the Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center (THPAC) has donated its archives to the Library.

The 92nd Street Y the world-class cultural and community center that has been connecting people around the globe through the arts, entertainment, and conversation for 145 years today announced that board member and dance educator Jody Gottfried Arnhold and her husband John have committed $5 million toward an exciting and ambitious plan to physically transform the Harkness Dance Center, enabling it to expand and enhance programming and serve an ever-growing patron base.

Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen announces seven dancer promotions for the 2019-2020 season. Second Soloists Chyrstyn Fentroy, Lawrence Rines, and Addie Tapp have been promoted to the rank of soloist. Artists Maria Álvarez, Dawn Atkins, Emily Entingh, and Matthew Slattery have been promoted to second soloists.

The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC), City of New Brunswick, and George Street Playhouse today announced The Elizabeth Ross Johnson Theater and The Arthur Laurents Theater named after two George Street Playhouse benefactors. The $7.75 million in gifts, the largest in George Street Playhouse history, strengthens NBPAC as the premier center for the performing arts. NBPAC, a $172 million redevelopment initiative that will transform New Brunswick's Downtown Cultural Arts District, opens its doors to the public this fall.

Miami City Ballet opens its 2019-2020 season on October 18, 2019, with 16 weeks of performances across Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach through April 26. Jacob's Pillow announces that internationally sought-after Colombian-Belgian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa is the recipient of the 2019 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award.

On Saturday, March 9th, 45 metro area high school acts competed in the Semi-final round of the 9th Annual St. Louis Teen Talent Competition.  St. Louis performing arts professionals judged the performances and narrowed the field to 15 acts (24 individuals) who will move on to the finals on Saturday, April 13th at 8pm at The Fabulous Fox Theatre (a list of acts can be found here).  In addition to the thrill of performing on the Fox Stage, contestants are eligible to win college scholarships, prizes and performance opportunities.  'We couldn't be happier with the level of talent. The students seem to get better and better each year,' exclaimed Mary Strauss, Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation Board President Emeritus.  The final competition is a professionally produced production that is FREE and open to the public.  General Admission tickets are required and available now at no charge at The Fabulous Fox box office and through Metrotix.

Texas Christian University is honored to announce that renowned American ballerina Debra Austin will visit the campus April 14-18, 2019 as the Cecil H. and Ida Green Honors Chair to participate in a ballet residency rooted in partnership with the TCU School for Classical & Contemporary Dance (SCCDance). Praised by The New York Times for her ability to "levitate… and remain suspended in the air," Austin will lead students, faculty, and community members through a curated program during the five-day residency featuring master classes, community events, a special Q&A that is free and open to the public, as well as cross-departmental collaborations and workshops.

A&A BALLET (A&A), under the artistic direction of Anna Reznik and Alexei Kremnev, has announced the principal casting for 'Sleeping Beauty,' which will be performed at Chicago's Studebaker Theatre (410 S. Michigan Ave), May 4, 2019 at 2 p.m. and 7p.m. The production will star A&A BALLET Youth Company Member and 2019 Youth America Grand Prix honoree Trinity Santoro as Princess Aurora during the matinee staging, A&A BALLET Youth Company Member and recipient of American Ballet Theater's National Scholarship Grace Curry as Princess Aurora at the evening performance and BalletMet company member Michael Sayre as the Prince at both performances.

African-Americans have used dance to tell their story, assert their identity, and express their unique creativity. Folk dance, popular dance crazes, and the high arts have all been unquestionably influenced by our genetic muscle memory of African movement. Facilitated by a local panel of speakers, this Community Conversations event will explore "Katherine Dunham to Misty Copeland - The African Diaspora in Dance." The panel will include China White, former ballerina with Dance Theatre of Harlem, and members of Thiossane West African Dance Institute.

Michigan Opera Theatre (MOT) announced today details of its 2019-20 season. The opera series features beloved classics "Don Giovanni" and "Pagliacci;" works long-absent from the MOT repertoire, "Sweeney Todd" and "Gianni Schicchi," and the highly-anticipated company premiere of "Champion," a contemporary American opera. The dance series features the return of American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem, as well as the Detroit Opera House premiere of French contemporary ballet company Malandain Ballet Biarritz. An Oct. 12 gala concert, featuring acclaimed American Tenor Michael Fabiano and principal dancers from American Ballet Theatre, will serve to launch the season.

Jacob's Pillow, in partnership with The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) and the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP), invites early career dance presenters to apply for an immersive professional development experience at Jacob's Pillow, July 10-14, 2019. The National Dance Presenters Forum was reinstated in 2018 in response to field-wide interest and in support of the Pillow's renewed commitment to facilitate and host discourses in dance development through its five-year strategic plan, Vision' 22.

Juilliard Dance, led by director Alicia Graf Mack, continues its season with Spring Dances, a repertory program featuring Martha Graham's The Rite of Spring, Bill T. Jones' D-Man in the Waters (Part 1); and Alejandro Cerrudo's Little mortal jump.

This Monday, February 11 marks the 50th Anniversary – to the day – when, in response to the assassination of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the lack of opportunities for people of color to train and perform classical ballet, former New York City Ballet dancer Arthur Mitchell – the first black dancer to be elevated to Principal – created, along with Karel Shook, the Dance Theatre of Harlem. Originally conceived and opened as a classical ballet school for the children in his Harlem neighborhood in 1969, Mr. Mitchell soon formed a performance company drawing from the students trained in the school. Led by his passion and determination, the DTH School and Company thrive today and we celebrate their vision and legacy for a classical ballet company for all.

For 50 years, Dance Theatre of Harlem has inspired the world with a revolutionary vision of a multiethnic ballet company. Co-founded by the great Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook, the company performs ground-breaking works with power and grace.
