Official Casting Announced for ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE

Producers Frank Marshall, Mindy Rich, Anita Waxman, and Beth Williams announced the official cast for the pre-Broadway tour and Broadway premiere of Escape to Margaritaville, the new musical featuring the songs of iconic singer-songwriter-author Jimmy Buffett. As previously announced, the musical begins previews on Broadway on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Marquis Theatre (210 West 46th Street), with an official opening night set for Thursday, March 15, 2018. Corkscrew Theater Festival to Present 5 Free Readings of New Plays

Free tickets can now be reserved for the reading series presented by Corkscrew Theater Festival, running August 7 - September 3 at the Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street, Manhattan). A joint effort from The Brewing Dept. and Fortress Productions, this new summer theater festival provides early-career artists a high level of production support and features five world premieres and five readings performed in repertory over four weeks. Special attention has been given to theater makers who are developing work through innovative and unusual collaborative models. A majority of the participating artists identify as women. (more...)

BWW Review: THE WEDDING SINGER at Acting Against Cancer

I am not the biggest fan of Adam Sandler, or at least the movies he manufactures for himself and his buddies, but I have always liked The Wedding Singer, one of his first, most endearing films. The story of Robbie Hart (Remy Sisk), a cheesy but sincere front man for a wedding band in the late 1980's, is a logical selection for adaptation into a stage musical, and provides ample opportunity for satire of social trends in fashion. Broadway In Chicago's Summer Concert on Monday drew probably the largest crowd for the event I have seen in several years of attendance (and they were definitely a fired-up bunch). Musical theater fans across Chicago clamored to see Broadway In Chicago's showcase of ten upcoming touring shows (with a bonus appearance from HAMILTON's Chris De'Sean Lee, who co-hosted with usual emcee Janet Davies of ABC7). A.R.T. Institute Alumni Critical of Diane Paulus's Leadership in Response to School's Three-Year Hiatus

Harvard University's ART Institute, the university's graduate-level theater program within the American Repertory Theater, recently announced a three-year admissions suspensions while administrators implement a strategic plan to stabilize the troubled program. On July 30, the A.R.T. Institute Alumni Association sent a letter to the leaders of the Institute criticizing Diane Paulus's 'little respect or interest in the program' and 'negligence in her duty to the Institute.'
