The story of Lyndon Johnson’s almost failed senate campaign of 1948. Without the mysterious appearance of 202 votes cast alphabetically late on election day in Jim Wells County, Johnson would have lost the Democratic primary runoff with former Texas Governor Coke Stephenson. He won by 83 votes out of over 1 million cast.
