The Spire Center for Performing Arts announced several new shows for the Sunday Serenades series celebrating the rich sounds of jazz, swing, big band, classical crossover, and Broadway favorites. 

Derby Dinner Playhouse will present the uplifting Broadway Musical 'Come From Away', August 13 through September 28, 2025. 'Come From Away' chronicles the real-life experiences of the people of Gander, Newfoundland, and the almost 7,000 airline passengers who were forced to land there when US air space was closed on September 11, 2001.

An incredible true story of the 7,000 stranded passengers forced to land in a small town in Newfoundland due to the emergency closure of US airspace on 9/11/2001.

CDE will open this season with LUMINOSITY, Aug. 1-2, followed by a reimagined “Full Circle Festival,” Sept. 19-28, featuring local artists participating in a classic fringe-style festival.

The reimagined version of the Broadway musical Movin’ Out will shift to a future season. The upcoming season will now open with the Tony Award-winning musical Come from Away (November 12 – December 28, 2025).  

This summer, LEGALLY BLONDE the musical struts onto the Malkin Bowl stage for a summer of sparkle and show-stopping songs. Back by popular demand, the hit show makes its highly anticipated return as part of Theatre Under The Stars’ 2025 season, playing in repertory with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory from June 27 to August 16.

Second Stage Theatre’s 43rd Street off-Broadway house, right near 8th Avenue, recently changed hands and is now the home of Studio Seaview . Seaview’s first production in the space is Angry Alan, starring John Krasinski. They have renovated and updated the space since Second Stage switched off-Broadway locations to now present shows at the Signature.

Vangeline Theater / New York Butoh Institute, in collaboration with The Brick, will present the ninth annual Queer Butoh from Wednesday, June 25 - Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 8pm at The Brick Theater, 579 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn. Tickets start at $25 and are available for purchase here.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Harris Yulin, longtime star of the stage and screen, has passed away at the age of 87. Yulin made his New York theater debut in 1963 in James Saunders' Next Time I'll Sing To You.
