The 79th Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday, June 7, 2026. It's the biggest awards show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. Which Best Musical and Best Play nominees will take home the ultimate prize?

The Broadway Women's Fund revealed its 2026 Women to Watch on Broadway list, the seventh list from the fund spotlighting women in leadership in theater.

Two River Theater has received an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award for The Monsters: A Sibling Love Story by Ngozi Anyanwu. The award provided support for additional rehearsal time with the full creative team prior to the world premiere.

Prairie Park, a new mockumentary play by T.J. Pieffer, will be presented in  an invitation-only industry reading on Friday, January 9, 2026, produced by Pipe Dream in  association with Davenport Theatrical Enterprises. 

Arena Stage has received the Edgerton Foundation New Play Award for Fremont Ave. by Reggie D. White, directed by Lili-Anne Brown.

Theatrical Rights Worldwide has announced that performance rights for the powerful new musical, WILD HEART, are now available for licensing worldwide.

Written between 1930 and 1932, The Lady Macbeth of the Mtensk District was first performed in 1934 - and received a scathing write-up in the Pravda newspaper in 1936, due to its graphic sexual violence and murderous female lead. Whilst it alludes to Shakespeare’s infamous character, the opera is actually based on Nikolai Leskov’s novella of the same name; it also inspired William Oldroyd’s 2016 film starring Florence Pugh, whose screenplay was written by Alice Birch.

The BBC Proms marks a milestone this summer as conductor, arranger and orchestrator Jules Buckley returns to the Royal Albert Hall for his 25th Prom.
