The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe - 2012 - West End

Journey into Narnia this summer with a superb new production of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe in London's Kensington Gardens. Following up on last summer's popular production of Peter Pan, producers threesixty return to Kensington Gardens to create another enchanting theatrical experience, based on C.S. Lewis' first book in The Chronicles of Narnia series.



Staged in a enchanting state-of-the-art big-top tent in London's Hyde Park, the play brings the fantastical winter world of Narnia to life using elements from live theatre, spectacular video and puppetry special effects. C.S Lewis' classic story has been adapted for the stage by Rupert Goold, and the show is co-directed by Goold and Michael Fentiman.



So open the door, and enter a spectacular new world with Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy as they journey through the magical land of Narnia...

Imagination Stage has revived their Helen Hayes Award-winning 2012 production of 'The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe' for the 2019 holiday season. With stunning sets and engaging musical elements, it's not hard to see why this production is a local favorite. The show takes a well-known tale and retells with the fun creativity of a children's production, but with the sensibilities that play to adults' nostalgia.

Following a successful run at the Leeds Playhouse in 2017, Sally Cookson's adaptation of Lewis's novel is now at the Bridge Theatre, and proves a perfect tonic to the theatrical soul, with impeccable design and innovative scenic effects.

Matt Lucas stepped in to play the role of Thénardier for a few weeks when Gerard Carey was unable to perform before the first preview of the new production of Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre last month due to vocal injury caused by contracting pneumonia. Last week Lucas regrettably sustained a back injury which has meant he is unable to continue in the role.

Sally Cookson's highly acclaimed stage production of C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe, which is currently playing to packed houses at the Bridge Theatre in London, and broke box office records when it premiered at Leeds Playhouse in 2017, will begin a major tour of the UK and Ireland at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury on 20 November 2020. It then travels to Cardiff, Salford, Dublin, Edinburgh, Canterbury, Glasgow and finally Nottingham in March 2021.

Today, The Watermill Theatre announces the appointment of four new Associate Directors as part of its Associate Artist Programme. The four emerging directors have been selected to work with the producing theatre to develop their skills and build experience as they embark on the next phase of their careers. Under the guidance of Artistic Director Paul Hart, each will take on roles ranging from Assistant Directorships to fully directing productions, all with the aim of nurturing their talents and extending their knowledge. It's official: Calgarians have fallen in love with Narnia, and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe has become the highest selling show in Alberta Theatre Projects history. Single ticket sales have blown past the previous highest selling show, 2014-15's Charlotte's Web by nearly 125%.

Donna Southern Schmidt, a local, professional costume designer who works regularly with MST as well as other Houston theaters, has found a way to make good use of her forced hiatus by sewing masks for medical workers. But these are not ordinary masks. She's using fabric remnants from plays she designed for Main Street Theater (MST).
