Stage Directors & Choreographers Foundation Announces Annual Gala

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the independent, not-for-profit affiliate of SDC, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, today announced unique plans for its 2019 award evening, which will feature original choreographic pieces resulting from a special commissioning program, with the application period now open. SDCF also announced that Victoria Traube would receive a special 'Mr. Abbott' Award at the event, to be held March 25 at the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF). (more...)

Theater Of Others To Stage Shakespeare's THE COMEDY OF ERRORS

Theater of Others is producing their twelfth show, William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors, October 5-21. Lijesh Krishnan directs a cast of 13, with costumes by Lisa Claybaugh, at the Theater of Others' home, the Kelly Cullen Community Auditorium, 220 Golden Gate Avenue (between Leavenworth and Hyde) in San Francisco. The Comedy of Errors runs Thursdays through Sundays, October 5-21. As with all Theater of Others' productions, admission is Pay-What-You-Will. BWW Review: Showtunes' BOYS FROM SYRACUSE Confused About Twins but Not About Fun

I was speaking with a friend the other day about the current show from Showtunes Theatre Company, "The Boys from Syracuse". He's a somewhat new, fledgling musical theater geek and I said, that it was filled with great Rodgers and Hart songs many of which are standards now. I went through a few and got nothing but blank stares. And that, Dear Readers, is why Showtunes is so important. We need someone to keep bringing us these underdone, and often times older shows such as "The Boys from Syracuse" so established geeks like me can sit there and … well … geek out, and for a place for newbies to come and be exposed to these grand old shows so they might actually learn what a "standard" is. ROMEO AND JULIET Return to DC For Annual Free For All

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet.
