Based on a story by Nik Cohn

Screen play by Norman Wexler

In Brooklyn, Tony Manero is a humble paint store clerk by day, but after dark he becomes the polyester-clad stallion king of the local nightclub. Every Saturday night Tony slips into his flares, pulls on his huge-collared shirt and hits the streets to prove he can walk the walk, talk the talk and most definitely dance the moves. Each week he parts the dance floor like the red sea as the club falls under the spell of the thumping disco beat and Tonyís phenomenal routines. But as the club lights snap on at the end of the night and the real world returns, Tony and his disco obsessed friends must face the sometimes harsh truth of growing up in the tough urban jungle of New York.

BWW Review: Broadway World Critic's Choice Maine 2018
by Carla Maria Verdino-SŁllwold - Nov 23, 2018

Maine seems to be enjoying a theatrical renaissance with large and small companies vigorously engaged in producing a wide range of repertoire throughout the state. Several of the leading professional theatres have become destinations in and of themselves - (witness the inclusion of Maine State Music Theatre and Ogunquit Playhouse in Scott Andrews' upcoming book, Vacationland) - while venerable community groups continue to raise the bar for their work. These are my personal choices of the best in Maine for 2018, grouped by theatre company and show. MAINE STATE MUSIC THEATRE delivered a 60th anniversary season that redefined the meaning and substance of 'gala.' (more...)
