This season, 46th Street will join these special ranks when the new musical Warriors moves into the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Warriors, with book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis, moves in across the street from Hamilton in its long-time home at the Richard Rodgers. Hamilton, with book, music, and lyrics by Miranda, already has a history of inspiring block party vibes on 46th Street with Ham4Ham, their in-person lottery turned pop-up concert event. Will there be a crossover lottery event for both shows? Perhaps Warriors will be the Lunt-Fontanne show to finally reopen the theater’s long-dormant retractable rooftop and wave to their neighbors?

This week's theater news spans awards season milestones, legal disputes, labor tensions, and the business challenges facing the art form on both sides of the Atlantic. The 2026 Tony nominations are in — with Schmigadoon! and The Lost Boys leading the pack. Voting is also now open for BroadwayWorld's own Theater Fans' Choice Awards. On a more turbulent note, a fire at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre has shuttered The Book of Mormon through at least May 17, a second lawsuit has been filed against the producers of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, and IATSE is accusing the Kennedy Center of using its upcoming temporary closure as cover to permanently eliminate union jobs. Regionally, The Naples Players have secured a multi-year grant to expand paid apprenticeships for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. And internationally, The Stage examines whether the UK touring sector — where the number of touring plays has fallen 64% since 2019 — can find a path forward through its mounting financial and structural pressures.

BroawayWorld has been following a three-alarm blaze inside Eugene O'Neill Theatre, home to The Book of Mormon. The fire, which had been upgraded from a two-alarm fire to a three-alarm fire, is now extinguished.

Bambi Linn, the last surviving cast member of the original Broadway cast of Oklahoma!, has turned 100-years-old. The now-retired American dancer, choreographer, and actress celebrated her 100th birthday on on April 26, 2026.
