Sunday night was the Toronto opening of the Canadian premiere of KIMBERLY AKIMBO – the 2023 Tony Award winner for Best Musical. Directed by Robert McQueen, this quirky musical boasts a fabulous cast and is chock full of heart. With an incredibly strong (and Tony Award Winning) book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, this musical weaves together comedy and drama in the same way that real life does. Offering performances that are both funny and heartbreaking, KIMBERLY AKIMBO is a very special show that is not to be missed.

Beginning February 11, Rose Valley-based Hedgerow Theatre Company will present the regional premiere presentation of Dear Jack, Dear Louise by two-time Tony Award-winning playwright Ken Ludwig.

What did our critic think of ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE at Florida Repertory Theatre?

Kristen Schaal will present a special preview run of her new stage show, The Legend of Crystal Shell. Written by and starring Schaal, Crystal Shell is a story about a sheltered centaur who confronts her horse dad.

Though the production overall was a bit hit-or-miss for me, I was nonetheless impressed by the design and some stand-out performances, and am genuinely delighted that this show, one of my personal favorites of the Century Cycle, gets to live again on the TAG stage.
