ArcLight Cinemas and Slamdance today announced the lineup for their inaugural Emergence Film Festival, taking place March 26th - 29th at ArcLight Cinemas' Hollywood location. The lineup includes both premieres and Slamdance Park City festival favorites and will showcase Features, Shorts, and Episodics along with Slamdance's signature categories Anarchy and DIG. This new partnership is an extension of the two organizations' successful Slamdance Cinema Club screening series. Tickets and passes are now on sale. Twelve very talented students will be honored at THE THEATER PROJECT'S eighteenth annual Young Playwrights Competition Performance and Awards Ceremony at 2 PM, Saturday, March 14, at the Cranford Community Center. The event includes playwrighting tutorials for interested students, opportunities for young writers to interact with adult playwrights, acceptance speeches, prizes a?" and pizza. A light lunch before the event allows the new playwrights to meet each other, as well as the actors and directors who put the new work on its feet.

An annual sold-out event that is an exclusive New York musical theater experience, BROADWAY BELTS FOR PFF! featured Broadway stars performing some of their favorite songs and original pieces to benefit the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF). The benefit began as a tribute to Michael Kuchwara, Associated Press theater critic, who died suddenly of pulmonary fibrosis in 2010. Julie Halston, a founding partner of the event, is one of the PFF's leading advocates nationwide and shined as the evening's host (Her Broadway credits include Tootsie, Hairspray, Gypsy, and You Can't Take It With You).

Hans Christian Andersen's 'The Emperor's New Clothes' is a tale of an entire kingdom that ignores the obvious for fear of judgement, only to be brought back to reality by a child. In this story, the Emperor loves fine clothing of all sorts. Two rogues, Roscoe and Flo, arrive in the city claiming to be the best 'weavers' imaginable, and that the clothing they make is the finest in all the land. The rogues say that this clothing is also magical and would appear invisible to anyone who was stupid or a fool.... Are you wise enough to see the invisible cloth?

Casting has been announced for the Los Angeles LGBT Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center's production of the iconic musical Hair. Under the direction of Kate Sullivan with musical direction by Jared Stein, there will be two preview performances on Wednesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 26, at 8pm. Opening is set for Friday, March 27, at 8pm in the Davidson/Valentini Theatre. The regular performance schedule will be Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7pm through April 26.

On Friday, February 28, 2020 at 8:00pm, the Philharmonic Society of Orange County and the Irvine Barclay Theatre present multiple Grammy Award-nominated violinist Philippe Quint in the west coast premiere of Charlie Chaplin's Smile: A Musical Tribute to Charlie Chaplin, a new multimedia recital with pianist John Novacek featuring new arrangements of works and video clips from Chaplin's most celebrated films - Modern Times, City Lights, Monsieur Verdoux, The Kid, Limelight and A King in New York - interspersed with works by composers that had a great impact on Chaplin's compositional style: Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Brahms, Gershwin, and Stravinsky. During the performance, Quint will also narrate the stories that he has written and based on Chaplin's My Autobiography. There will be a 7:00pm panel with Quint, film archivist Stan Taffle, and Newport Beach Film Festival CEO Gregg Schwenk before the performance.

On Sunday, February 9th, Broadway Workshop presented an all new pilot production of THE ADDAMS FAMILY Younger@Part, in a new thirty-minute edition. Students in the production had the opportunity to create their roles in a studio setting, which culminated in a presentation at The Ailey Studios. The Studio Workshop program starred a cast of twenty talented young students, and was directed by Cassie Okenka (School of Rock, Wicked), choreographed by Halle Mastroberardino, with musical direction by Sarah Statler, and was produced by Marc Tumminelli and Sarah Glugatch.
