ProMusica Chamber Orchestra will close its 47th season at the Southern Theatre with Copland's Appalachian Spring and violinist Vadim Gluzman performing Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1.

The Shed today has revealed a lineup of wide-ranging summer programs, all free and open to the public. The summer features the New York premiere of Lightscape, a new immersive film-based installation by Doug Aitken, and more.

The lineup has been announced for the 33rd edition of the New York African Film Festival (NYAFF), spotlighting 14 contemporary and classic feature films and 25 short films.

Carolyn Lucas was studying dance in college when a friend took her to see iconic postmodern dance choreographer Trisha Brown (1936–2017) and her eponymous company at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The experience changed her life and launched her career, according to Lucas.

Guitarist, composer, and prolific recording artist David Leisner will release Dedications on Azica Records - a collection centered almost entirely on works he has commissioned, celebrating the composers who have shaped his artistic life.

The collection documents songs that made it into Sondheim’s musicals, and it also documents cut or unused songs that were edited out of shows before they opened. Rarest of all, it documents songs that were never finished. These are not the rarities that made it into Marry Me a Little or a Sondheim compilation album. Rather, they are sketches of songs that provide a window into Sondheim’s process while creating a score and show him developing characters and determining the details of what are now iconic musicals.
