The Joyce Theater Foundation will celebrate the joy of hip-hop dance and gospel music in the New York premiere of LIFTED: A Gospel House Musical, the latest work from the brilliant mind of Rennie Harris. The universal story of one man’s spiritual journey told through dance will play The Joyce Theater from August 9-14.

A fully BSL-integrated hip-hop gig theatre show, Follow the Signs is performed through BSL, rap, spoken English, movement, and creative captioning, to be shared and celebrated by Deaf and hearing audiences together. It tells the story of acclaimed dancer and choreographer Chris Fonseca.

The Weidner will partner for a second year with Cujo-Hip Hop to present Teach the Youth: A Hip-Hop Benefit in support of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay's Youth Arts Initiative.

The 18th annual Ladies of Hip-Hop Festival brings the global Hip-Hop dance community to New York City for a five-day Festival co-produced by Ladies of Hip-Hop and Gibney. One of the most anticipated events of the year, the five-day Festival kicks off July 13 with an opening reception and continues with a MAKING HERSTORY panel discussion, highlighting the power of women in the arts; two days of workshops with a wide variety of guest teaching artists; and two nights of performance showcases.

The reimagined revival of Ntozake Shange’s groundbreaking for colored girls who have considered suicide/ when the rainbow is enuf will host “100 Women of Hip Hop Sisterhood Sunday,” a spirited gathering of Black women on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Birmingham Hippodrome and Bullring & Grand Central have announced details of the programme for B-SIDE Hip-Hop Festival, the free annual festival that brings together extraordinary artists and breath-taking acts from across all four elements of Hip-Hop: breakin', graffiti, DJ'ing and MC'ing.

The ten-episode season will include interviews with industry insiders and experts such as Sha-Rock, considered the first female emcee; Grand Wizzard Theodore, credited with inventing the popular “scratching” technique; and Kurtis Blow, one of the first commercially successful Hip Hop artists.

Amara La Negra, Actress & Singer from Love & Hip-Hop Miami, is headlining and presenting at the 10th Annual Benefit, DREAM’s 2022: Transformations in New York City. The annual event celebrates the global Dominican community and raises awareness and funding for quality education for children in the Dominican Republic. As a proud Dominican herself, Amara will be flying to the city to give her support. After having her twin girls, Sumajestad Royalty De Los Santos and Sualteza Empress De Los Santos on the 23rd of March, this is the first appearance that Amara will make. 

Park Avenue Armory will continue its Making Space Public Programming Series with Queer Hip Hop Cypher, an exploration of the queer origins and aesthetics of hip hop through discussion, film, and performance on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 3pm.

Across eight hours, the series will explore the origins of Busta Rhymes, Eve, Fat Joe, Grandmaster Flash, Ice-T, Ja Rule, Lil Jon, and Uncle Luke as they reflect on their personal journeys and the evolutions of their artistic points of view through their own eyes. The Movement, a nonprofit organization committed to making dance free and accessible to all, has announced their latest expansion, bringing seven new FREE dance classes to Los Angeles, CA.

The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in India will host American Hip Hop group The INV!S!BLES for live shows in Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Goa, and Chennai from April 19 to May 4, 2022.
