The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities kicks off its holiday season with the hit Broadway musical ELF- The Musical directed by Gavin Mayer, opening November 20, 2018. Additional guest performers include Ariana Grande, Adam Lambert, Ledisi, Pentatonix and the current Broadway company of 'Wicked.'.

The Actors Fund has announced a star-studded lineup for the 2018 Looking Ahead Awards hosted by Garrett Clayton ("Hairspray Live!," "Teen Beach Movie") and Ashley Argota ("The Fosters") on Sunday, October 28 from 4-8pm at the magnificent Taglyan Complex in Hollywood. The fifth annual gala, which raises support and awareness for The Actors Fund's Looking Ahead Program, features exciting "blue carpet" arrivals, cocktail hour, gourmet dinner, awards ceremony and live performances. The Menier Chocolate Factory today announces principal company for its major revival of one of the world's most-beloved musicals of all time, Fiddler on the Roof, in a new staging by Trevor Nunn. Joining the previously announced Andy Nyman (Tevye) is Judy Kuhn as Golde, with Harriet Bunton (Hodel), Dermot Canavan (Lazar Wolf), Stewart Clarke (Perchik), Matt Corner (Fyedka), Joshua Gannon (Motel), Louise Gold (Yente), Kirsty MacLaren (Chava) and Molly Osborne (Tzeitel).

Skylight Music Theatre today announced that due to overwhelming demand, nine additional performances have been added to Skylight's holiday show, Hairspray. The show, which opens Friday, November 16 will now run through Sunday, December 30, 2018 with special early bird and family-friendly performance times added throughout the run.

A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of seats will be held for WICKED, which is returning to Popejoy Hall with performances from October 17 through 28. Two and one-half hours prior to each performance, people who present themselves at UNM box office will have their names placed in a lottery drum; thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only. This lottery is available only in-person at the box office, with a limit of two tickets per person. Lottery participants must have a valid photo ID when submitting their entry form and, if chosen, when purchasing tickets.

Ever since Chicago hit the big screen in 2002, Hollywood has re-embraced the movie musical. On October 5, a new title joins the genre when A Star Is Born, starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, is released. At least for now, the film is Certified Fresh, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 95%, but will it hold up?

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, Frederick's only year-round producing theatre, will celebrate its 25th Silver Anniversary Season with its upcoming 2018/2019 line-up of shows. Kicking off the season in September will be the family favorite Annie.

The Actors Fund and Playwrights Horizons announced today that New York City playwright Julia Jarcho is the 2018 recipient of "The Mark O'Donnell Prize", an annual prize presented to an emerging theater artist in recognition of her or his talent and promise.

Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including 'Tomorrow.'

Just when Seattleites thought they'd experienced all the magic of the holiday season, The Buttcracker returns in a haze of sweat, glitter, and hairspray for the fourth year in a row. This city's beloved modern-dance variety show salutes the glory of '80s hair metal with a festive 'mix of professional dance and raunchy satire,' (The Seattle Times).
