After 23 years as Artistic Director of The Public Theater, Oskar Eustis will step down when his current contract concludes in 2028, at the end of The Public Theater's 60th anniversary season.

Theater Latté Da announced casting for its 2026 NEXT Festival of New Musicals, featuring three new works — BLACK GIRL IN PARIS, HEARTS IS BROKE, and ALICE IN NEVERLAND — each receiving developmental workshops and public presentations at the Ritz Theater in Minneapolis.

The REV Theatre Company announced its 2027 season, featuring SISTER ACT, the regional premiere of SOMEBODY TO LOVE, and a return engagement of FROM HERE TO ETERNITY, which made its North American premiere at the Auburn, N.Y. venue.

The six-time Tony Award-winning Best Musical MAYBE HAPPY ENDING, starring original Broadway cast members Steven Huynh and Claire Kwon, is set to play Tanger Center in Greensboro for eight performances.

Noah Mannion, Rafferty Smale, Spencer Collins, and William Gurney will share the title role in Billy Elliot the Musical's national tour and limited West End season, with original Olivier Award-winning Billy, Liam Mower, returning as 'Older Billy.'

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first musical In the Heights takes standard Broadway fare and moves it slightly more uptown - to 183rd Street, to be specific.  Lawrenceville's Aurora Theatre has its patrons do the same, moving a little further north outside the Perimeter to see their own new production of this Tony Award-winning musical.

Stranger Things: The First Shadow will extend for a final time, completing its run at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End on December 27, 2026 and at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway on January 3, 2027.

The Public Theater has announced the lineup for The Public’s Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 season. The season lineup will include The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, plus works from James Ijames, Ryan J. Haddad, Richard Nelson, Taylor Mac, and more.

The Gamm has dipped back into Martin McDonagh’s canon (previous productions include Hangmen, 2023, A Skull in Connemara, 2016), for their latest production–The Cripple of Inishmaan.  Set in the remote Aran Islands, this play shows what feels like a softer side of McDonagh in that it’s a peek into the world of some quirky characters and the neighbors they barely tolerate, but are also woven into every aspect of life. 

Zachary Noah Piser (KPOP, Dear Evan Hansen) and Hannah Kevitt (Maybe Happy Ending, Back to the Future) will play the roles of “Oliver” and “Claire” in Maybe Happy Ending on Broadway respectively, beginning on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Bright Star is a Bluegrass/Folk musical written and composed by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. Its tale is set in the vast landscape of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains between the years 1945-46, and features flashbacks to the year 1923. The pair produced a Grammy-winning album in 2013 entitled Love Has Come For You, in which the musical is inspired by its lyric-scape and the true story of the Iron Mountain Baby.
