If you weren't obsessed with TikTok before we entered this time of social distancing and self-isolation, there is a good chance that you are now. With out-of-the house entertainment out of the question, TikTok has kept us all responsibly indoors and endlessly entertained.

This week, I asked representatives from ten theatrical nonprofits in New York to speak with me. Most said yes, but many asked to speak off-the-record because the situation is changing so rapidly they didn't want to be quoted on something that would be incorrect by the time the piece ran. Unlike my usual in the weeds piece, this is purposely a more reflective one.

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19), The Gift Theatre announced today it will suspend performances of The Pillowman effective immediately. The revival was scheduled to run through March 29, 2020 at The Gift's home at 4802 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Jefferson Park neighborhood.

Dark electronic collective Dispel are previewing their new single 'Temptation' via a new video representing the 'Last Trial' stage of the Hero's Journey. The video features a return of the Crusading Knight 'Levie.' It will open on Thursday, November 7 at 8pm and run through Saturday, December 7 at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N Cahuenga Blvd (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood.

TLC announced today that its third annual GIVE A LITTLE Awards, presented in partnership with Love Is Louder, a project of The Jed Foundation, will take place on October 2, 2019 at Union Park Events in New York City. The ceremony will highlight advocates who work tirelessly to eradicate bullying and promote kindness for future generations. This year's event will be hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist and TLC personality Lisa Joyner (“Long Lost Family,” “Taken at Birth”).

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the brand-new Rave Theater Festival is set to launch later this week, running August 9-25, 2019 at Clemente Soto Veléz Cultural and Educational Center (107 Suffolk Street) on the Lower East Side. Mosaic Theater Company of DC announces its season opener, Fabulation Or, The Re-Education of Undine by Lynn Nottage, starring Helen Hayes Award winner (and two time HHA host) Felicia Curry in the title role (see full bio below), with a stellar supporting cast including Roz White (Mosaic's Marie and Rosetta) as Undine's mother, and Aakhu TuahNera Freeman as the Grandmother (Death of a Salesman at Ford's Theatre), directed by Eric Ruffin (director of the multiple Helen Hayes Award winning Black Nativity at Theatre Alliance).

NBC Sports' 2019 NFL preseason coverage kicks off this Thursday, Aug. 1, when the Atlanta Falcons face the Denver Broncos in the 2019 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game from Canton, Ohio, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Denver's Vic Fangio makes his head coaching debut after 32 years as NFL assistant, including spending the past four seasons as Chicago's defensive coordinator, and Broncos rookie QB Drew Lock, a second-round draft pick, is expected to make his NFL preseason debut.

Nashville singer-songwriter Kelly Hoppenjans has announced her debut LP, OK, I Feel Better Now, set to release October 18, 2019. Produced by Brandy Zdan, the 10-song set combines the spirit of riot grrrl tinged with folky introspection while asserting a need to break the cycle of society's gendered expectations. Today, Hoppenjans shared a music video for the album's lead single “Growing My Hair,” which can be viewed below. Of the track, she offers, 'The inspiration for this song is partly face value--I really do grow my hair and cut it all off every couple of years. But I've noticed differences in how the world relates to me when my hair is different lengths and colors and the expectations society has for the way a woman's hair/body/makeup/etc should look.'
