Trinity Repertory Company announced today that the Indigo Girls will be honored with the 2019 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts in recognition of their artistic achievements and advocacy at the theater's 23rd annual Pell Awards Gala on Monday, June 3, 2019 at the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence, RI. Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is pleased to announce that applications for the FY2020 Mark Ryder Original Choreography Grant Program are now available. Established at the bequest of Mark Ryder's family in honor of his life's work, this program recognizes individual creative expression by providing financial assistance to choreographers to create new original work.  A fund has been established at the Columbia Foundation to enable monies to be awarded for this purpose in perpetuity. The grant award recipients will be announced at HCAC's Annual Meeting and Grant Awards Ceremony in September 2019.  The minimum grant amount will be $500. 

The Westchester Symphonic Winds will continue its 31st Season with "Liberty and Equality," an uplifting concert at the Tarrytown Music Hall (13 Main Street, Tarrytown, NY) on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. The program will include six moving and uplifting pieces for the wind ensemble, including a new arrangement of highlights from the Tony Award-winning Broadway smash hit musical, Les Miserables by band member, Barton Green. Seven soloists were selected through a vocal competition this past fall, who will be featured prominently in the medley. The winning soloists include: Jennifer Dapice, soprano; Emily Geller, mezzo; Jessica Bogart, mezzo; John Gomez, tenor; Brian Shaheen, tenor; Tommy Leo, tenor; and Bjorn Olsen, baritone. Dr. Joseph Higgins will guest conduct, leading the ensemble in a performance of Unquiet Hours by David Biedenbender. Westchester Symphonic Winds conductor, Maestro Curt Ebersole will lead the group in other works, including Lauds, by Ron Nelson; Suite Francais, by Darius Milhaud; Liturgical Dances, by David Holsinger; and The Hope Within, by Benjamin Dean Taylor. The Philly POPS and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts will present the School District of Philadelphia's All-City Jazz Festival. The day of free jazz performances by student and professional musicians will be held in the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater and Commonwealth Plaza on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from noon 9 p.m. This will be the POPS's fifth year presenting this event and the third year in partnership with the Kimmel Center.

In 2017, the Broadway musical version of Anastasia (which opened at Hartford Stage nice months earlier), based on the 1997 film, featuring music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and a book by Terrence McNally debuted to much fanfare, and now Nashville audiences are in the thrall of the cast and crew of the national touring company, onstage at Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall through Sunday, March 24.

Emerging Artists Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Paul Adams, celebrates their 25th season by presenting their bi annual New Work Series. The series runs February 27 - March 17 at TADA Theater in the Flatiron District and features new works from a diverse group of artists. New musical, plays, solo-shows and dance pieces (in varies stages of development), will be presented.

The Majestic Theatre announced its line-up of shows for the 2019-2020 North Park Lexus Broadway in San Antonio Season. Pop-culture phenomenon DEAR EVAN HANSEN and Disney's ALADDIN anchor the season with eight performances of DEAR EVAN HANSEN, December 17-22, 2019, and a three-week run of ALADDIN, March 25 April 12, 2020. With eight productions, the season includes a mixture of Blockbuster Tony Award -winners, acclaimed revivals, four market premieres and beloved family favorites.

Gregory J. Supron has been named the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC).  Mr. Supron replaces Joseph M. Goryeb, who rotated off the Board in December 2018.

Last night, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's 60th Anniversary holiday season at New York City Center kicked off with a star-studded Opening Night Gala Benefit performance and party led by Artistic Director Robert Battle, with iconic film stars Angela Bassett and Cicely Tyson as honorary chairs. Prudential Financial received the Ailey Legacy Honor for their generous support and commitment to Ailey, especially its education and community programs. The award was presented by Battle and Christopher Taylor, an alumnus of the inaugural AileyCamp Newark (2011) and a current scholarship student at The Ailey School, and accepted by Lata Reddy, Senior Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion and Impact at Prudential Financial.

The Classics Theatre Project's Artistic Director Joey Folsom today announced the Company's 2019 3-play season of all-American classics. The season starts with Neil Simon's comedy "Rumors" (March 7 - 31, 2019), followed by Tennessee Williams's "Summer and Smoke" (May 29-June 23, 2019), and concluding with Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" (dates TBA).

The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, a program within the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, is thrilled to kick off our year-long 90 Years of Dance at Wayne celebration with the annual December Dance Concert, December 7 and 8 at Detroit's Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts.  This year's show promises diverse and moving works showcasing highlights of dance through the decades.
