Paramount Theatre is ready to unwrap its annual end-of-year tradition - bringing The Second City’s famous brand of seasonal hilarity to downtown Aurora for the holidays. And this year, Paramount’s gag gift is titled The Second City’s Holiday Revue: I Saw Mommy Kissing The Second City. Performances are November 25-December 23.

The Latin American Cinemateca of Los Angeles (LACLA) and the UCLA Film & Television Archive will co-present the special virtual screening of classic film Drácula, the long-lost film shot on the same set as the Bella Lagossi classic, considered by many critics to be the better of the two films.

Asolo Repertory Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for the opening show in its 64th season, CABARET. Banff Centre has been named as a recipient of a $750,000 gift from The Slaight Family Foundation to directly support theatre creators, producers and presenters as the sector continues to recover from pandemic-related closures.

The National Theatre School of Canada received a $1.5M donation from the Slaight Family Foundation — the largest in the School’s 62 year history. NTS is one of 22 nationally recognized beneficiaries who have received support as part of a $15M initiative by the Foundation to help revive the Canadian theatre industry post-pandemic.

The Arc of Litchfield County (LARC) has been awarded a grant from Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation to fund a performance and movement workshop at the Warner Theatre.

Music Institute of Chicago Artist-in-Residence and Chicago jazz favorite Tammy McCann will return to Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, on Saturday, October 29 at 7:30 p.m. with Yes, Mahalia!, a homage to gospel pioneer and Chicago legend Mahalia Jackson.

The Weidner will enter its second year of partnership with The Tarlton Theatre to present The Weidner Downtown Series. This exciting series showcases an eclectic mix of live music, chamber theatre and free to attend film screenings. All events in The Weidner Downtown Series are in the historic Tarlton Theatre located in the heart of Downtown Green Bay. 

Talawa, the UK’s outstanding Black theatre company, is holding an evening of celebration in honour of its late co-founder Mona Hammond OBE (1931–2022).  As one of the founders of Talawa Theatre Company in 1986, Hammond was instrumental in championing Black British theatre and her passion and vision was fundamental to the company’s work.

Education @ the Warner Presents “Special Effects: Cuts & Bruises” with Tyler Green, Saturday, November 5 at 2 pm. Tyler will provide detailed demonstration of his craft, and then guide students through creating realistic cuts and bruises on a fellow classmate. This class is best suited for ages 16 and up.
