Review: LEOPOLDSTADT at Main Street Theater

Sir Tom Stoppard’s last play, LEOPOLDSTADT, is his most personal. He wrote a narrative loosely based on his own family, changed the location to Austria, and finally wrote a Jewish script. The show debuted in London in 2020 and ran on Broadway from 2022 to 2023. It garnered the Tony for best play that year, and this Main Street Theater production represents its Regional debut.

Interview: Zack Varela of LEOPOLDSTADT at MAIN STREET THEATER
by Brett Cullum - Mar 19, 2026

For me, the message of this play is that family is the most important thing. Having, keeping, and surviving those family ties and those memories.

Review: THE TALENTED MR RIPLEY, Birmingham Rep
by Laura Lott - Sep 29, 2025

Talented by name, talented by nature: Ed McVey is a perfectly cast Mr Ripley, deftly juggling paranoia, wild optimism, self-pity and bouts of violence, while never losing either his sense of humour or the audience's tolerance. It's a demanding role requiring seemingly endless reams of dialogue as Ripley narrates his every thought, and McVey navigates it with style and charisma.
