The Winter Park Playhouse continues its Spotlight Cabaret Series with the newest solo cabaret from professional vocalist Noel Marie - The ABC's of Broadway. 

The Des Moines Playhouse will continue to present live theatre with two shows this spring, Some Enchanted Evening – The Songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein, Apr. 9-May 9, 2021, and, for families, The Velveteen Rabbit, Apr. 16-May 2, 2021. In-person performances will be presented in repertory, alternating shows by the week, in the John Viars Theatre.

Bronx Arts Ensemble announces the elevation of Judith Insell to Executive Director. Previously, in the summer of 2020, Insell was elevated to the position Artistic Director for BAE.

A few days ago, I read an article about Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new stage adaptation of Cinderella. There are few details on the story, but we do know that Emerald Fennell has written the book, and that Carrie Hope Fletcher is set to star. Due to the May reopening of the West End, the production recently dove back into rehearsals.

Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced The New Classics: Songs from the New Golden Age of Musical Theater, a virtual cabaret starring Broadway’s Gavin Creel, Nikki Renée Daniels, and Norm Lewis, plus Amanda Castro, Jenn Gambatese, Jo Lampert, and Heath Saunders, with David Chase as music director and featuring members of the Lyric Opera Orchestra.

Today, Williamstown Theatre Festival announced additional participants for the 2021 WTF Gala taking place virtually on Wednesday, April 7. Joining the festivities will be Olivier Award nominee Wendell Pierce (Death of a Salesman) who is a co-founder of Black Theatre United, a partner in WTF’s new Early Career BIPOC Theatre-Makers Program.

Entitled, “A Song for You: An Evening with Darius de Haas” and created especially for the Playhouse, the concert includes songs from the Great American Songbook to Broadway to beloved artists like Nat King Cole and Stevie Wonder. Performances will be held at Bucks County Playhouse on Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10 at 8 pm.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced Story Time, an eight-part program of children's book readings, read out loud by the authors themselves, starts Saturday, March 27, at 10:30 am via Zoom through May 15. American Dance Machine for the 21st Century has released its next virtual video, “Cool” from West Side Story, performed by 10 extraordinary dancers around New York City. “Cool” was directed by Tony Award nominee Joshua Bergasse, with choreography by Jerome Robbins recreated by Robert La Fosse.

Holmdel Theatre Company will kick off their 2021 Broadway Outside the Barn series with NICHOLAS RODRIGUEZ: The First Time... on Saturday, April 24th at 7 PM ET. Making his Holmdel debut, the Broadway actor (Tarzan) will perform his acclaimed solo show to a socially distanced audience outside the Duncan Smith Theater.
