Bass-baritone Christian Van Horn will star in Mozart's Don Giovanni, directed by Robert Falls and conducted by Enrique Mazzola, launching Lyric Opera of Chicago's new season.

Based on Victor Hugo's 1831 novel of the same name and (to a lesser extent) Disney’s 1996 Academy Award nominated animated film musical. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is set in 15th century Paris.

Canadian-born David D’Lancy Wilson is nearly one year into his run as Mufasa in THE LION KING. Next week, Pride Rock comes roaring into Montreal and Wilson is coming home to Canada. I had the opportunity to chat with Wilson about his life, career, and the experience of wearing the mask of one of musical theatre’s most iconic fathers. For Wilson, however, Mufasa is more than a king, warrior, husband and protector. At his core, he says, “he is just a parent trying to do right and best for their child.” As a father of two young boys himself, that perspective carries particular weight. NEW YORK CITY CENTER just announced casting for Encores! You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Feb 3 – 14). Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce joins the cast as the titular Charlie Brown, along with Oscar and Tony Award nominee Danielle Brooks as  Lucy, Emmy Award winner Ayo Edebiri as Snoopy, and acclaimed stage and screen actor Jin Ha as Linus. 

Jazz pianist Ron Drotos will return to Pangea with vocalists Lina Koutrakos, Dorian Woodruff, and Juliet Ewing for two evenings of jazz, bossa, ballads, and blues.

Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein is tapping its way into the hearts of Sacramentans as fast as you can say, “It’s alive!” The film version premiered in 1974 and quickly became a beloved parody of the classic Universal monster movies. It combined Brooks' signature humor and outrageous characters into an enduring classic that was adapted to a Broadway musical in 2007.  This summer, director Glenn Casale’s vision of mad genius turns this Broadway at Music Circus production into a gloriously entertaining monster mash.

It's like a war-themed version of Love Letters, both characters brought to life by superb performances by Cameron Kubly and Katie Davis.

The Cape May Public Library is set to present a free performance of Classic American Tales’ Margaret’s Diary During a Revolution written and performed by Gayle Stahlhuth based on the diary of Margaret Morris and other research, created to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
