You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown will run February 3 – 14, 2027 at New York City Center.
New York City Center just announced casting for Encores! You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Feb 3 – 14). Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce joins the cast as the titular Charlie Brown, along with Oscar and Tony Award nominee Danielle Brooks as Lucy, Emmy Award winner Ayo Edebiri as Snoopy, and acclaimed stage and screen actor Jin Ha as Linus.
Best known for his Emmy Award-winning performance in Frasier and acclaimed Broadway turns in Pirates! The Penzance Musical; Hello, Dolly!; and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike; Pierce brings his celebrated stage and screen talents to Charlie Brown. Brooks rose to fame as Taystee in the Netflix hit Orange is the New Black. She earned a Tony nomination for her role as Sofia in the 2015 revival of The Color Purple, where she went on to also earn an Oscar nomination for the 2023 film adaptation. This marks her return to the stage after her award-nominated run in the 2022 production of The Piano Lesson.
Edebiri, whose Emmy-winning performance in The Bear has established her as one of today's most exciting performers, makes her Encores! debut following her Broadway debut in Proof. Her acclaimed work spans film and television, with credits including Bottoms, Inside Out 2, and After the Hunt.
Ha returns to City Center following the Encores! Off-Center production of Road Show. Stage credits include Hamilton, Here We Are, M. Butterfly, and the revival of Proof. Ha can be seen onscreen in Pachinko, Only Murders in the Building, Love Life, DEVS, Jesus Christ Superstar: Live in Concert, Sugar, and Civil War.
The 2027 Encores! series kicks off February 3 – 14 with You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, featuring music, lyrics, and book by Clark Gesner, based on the beloved PEANUTS comic strip by Charles M. Schulz. Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton directs this fresh revival, with choreography by Sunny Min Sook Hitt and music direction by Meghann Zervoulis Bate. Join the PEANUTS gang on a series of small but seismic adventures in this beloved musical that captures the joy, struggle, and quiet urgency of growing up. When every triumph sings and every failure stings, this show reminds us of the importance of searching for happiness anyway.
The Encores! season includes Hallelujah, Baby! (March 17 – 28) and Kiss of the Spider Woman directed and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler (April 28 – May 9).
As part of City Center’s mission to make the arts accessible to everyone, the series includes post-show Community Nights for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Fri, Feb 12); Hallelujah, Baby! (Fri, Mar 26); and Kiss of the Spider Woman (Fri, May 7); performances offering ASL Interpretation (You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown; Thu, Feb 11; Hallelujah, Baby! Thu, Mar 25; Kiss of the Spider Woman, Thu, May 6), and Lynne & Richard Pasculano Student Matinees for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Wed, Feb 10) and Hallelujah, Baby! (Wed, Mar 24).
