The Muny has set a high bar for the remaining productions of their 106th season with an exquisite production of a beloved classic. Seth Skylar-Heyn's collaboration across his entire production team brought a fresh production of Les Misérables to the stage and captured all the emotion of the original production. He filled his cast with dozens of magnificent voices led by the extraordinary performances of John Riddle and Jordan Donica.  

Over and over again, that has happened to me for the almost half a century during which I’ve been reviewing theater. No matter if it’s a play I have seen countless times, I find myself excited to witness a new take on a much-loved title or to find new and expressive meaning in something I know like the back of my hand. More importantly, I find that theater can elicit in me a profound response and cause me to recall people, places and memories that feed my very soul.

Josh Gad is set to produce and appear in the long-awaiting sequel to Mel Brooks' 1987 comedy Spaceballs, which is in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Brooks will return as a producer on the film. Multiple outlets have reported the news, following a tease from Gad on his Instagram last week.

The Heart of Rock and Roll will play its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, June 23rd at 3pm. At the time of closing, the show will have played 24 previews and 72 performances.

Today, June 23, 2024, Broadway says goodbye to two limited-run productions and one open-run production. An Enemy of the People takes its final bow at the Circle in the Square Theatre following 23 previews and 112 regular performances; Patriots will conclude its run at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre following 21 previews and 72 regular performances; and The Heart of Rock and Roll concludes at the James Earl Jones Theatre following 24 previews and 72 regular performances.

On Tuesday, Eddie Redmayne stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers to discuss Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, which is now playing at the August Wilson Theatre. In Cabaret, Redmayne plays 'The Emcee', a role played by Joel Grey in the 1966 and 1987 Broadway productions. Knot Free Productions in association with Greenway Arts Alliance has announced a new production of Into the Woods, the classic Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. 

Starring Lucas Drummond, Ernani Moraes and Rafael Queiroz and directed by Fernando Philbert, the play tells the story of 2 orphan brothers who kidnap a mysterious businessman and end up finding the father figure they always dreamed of. With an extensive international career, the 1983 text gave screenwriter Lyle Kessler prominence as a playwright.
