Florida Atlantic University Theatre Lab announced the sudden passing of Founding Director and Dorothy F. Schmidt Eminent Scholar in the Arts, Louis Tyrell.

The Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre presents Rend Collective on Friday, May 1 at 8 pm. The band is made up of Chris Llewellyn, Stephen Mitchell, Daniel Jones, and Jonathan Chu.

The Carbonell Awards have announced four new judges. They will bring the total number of Carbonell judges to 46, including 18 in Broward County, 11 in Miami-Dade, and 17 in Palm Beach County.

American Rock Band and Grammy Award® Nominees My Morning Jacket have revealed that the return of the band’s beloved concert vacation, One Big Holiday, will be happening in Miramar Beach, Florida in 2025. The weekend is set to take place over three days and nights, April 3-5, 2025 with creators of the boutique music vacation concept Topeka producing the event. 

WAITRESS is another must-see musical production in the Muny’s 106th season. Brown’s direction is incredible. She accomplishes the near impossible staging an intimate musical on a massive stage. Credit her and the entire technical team for pulling off miraculous Muny magic. Vosk is brilliant. The entire cast is superb. They deliver delightful vocals and find all the humor baked into the script. The Muny’s Waitress simply gets everything right. It is a sweet little slice of musical theater pie.

The Hails have announced that they will be headlining Gainesville, Florida’s infamous High Dive’s last hurrah, All Hail High Dive, before closure. Taking place on May 19, with support still to be announced, the indie five-piece is the perfect example of the musical launch pad High Dive has been for the Florida music scene over the last decade plus. Last week, High Dive’s founder and owner Pat Lavery shared on social media that the venue is coming to a sudden end after their landlord informed them they had 30 days to vacate to make way for the new owner who will redevelop the property.
