CBS announced today that it has renewed six more drama series and two news programs for the 2019-2020 broadcast season. SEAL TEAM, S.W.A.T., MADAM SECRETARY, BULL, HAWAII FIVE-0 and MACGYVER will return to the CBS lineup next season, along with longstanding primetime news shows 60 MINUTES and 48 HOURS. With these pickups, CBS has now renewed 18 series for next year.

Cinema/Chicago today announced its annual free Summer Screenings Program with a selection of 17 feature films and one short film from around the world exploring the theme of adventure. All screenings are free and open to the public and take place on Wednesdays at 6:30pm from May 29 through October 2, 2019 at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington Street, 2nd Floor) in the Claudia Cassidy Theater. Summer Screenings is presented by Cinema/Chicago in partnership with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and 17 consulates and cultural institutions from around the city. PBS's multi award-winning NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT returns live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol for a special 30th anniversary broadcast hosted by Tony Award-winner Joe Mantegna and Emmy Award-winner Gary Sinise. The 30th annual broadcast of the NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT airs live on PBS Sunday, May 26, 2019, from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m., before a concert audience of hundreds of thousands, millions more at home, as well as to our troops serving around the world on the American Forces Network.

Over 1,000 area schoolchildren had the opportunity to attend a National Geographic Live lecture by award-winning photographer Bertie Gregory at Mayo Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, May 1.  The event was free to schools thanks to the generous support of BASF.

Adam Green has announced his new LP Engine Of Paradise as well as a companion graphic novel War And Paradise. Along with the LP announcement Adam has shared the track/video 'Freeze My Love'. When talking about the track he says,

Today, Ron Gallo shares the music video for his single,'Love Supreme (Work Together!),' off his latest album, Stardust Birthday Party out now on New West. The video is set to the Claudius Mittendorfer (Weezer, Parquet Courts, We Are Scientists) mix of the song and was directed by Joshua Shoemaker. 'This video is a total mind fuck, and I really love the colors,' says Gallo. 'The level of genius and work it took Joshua and his partner Albert to conceptualize it and build the world it takes place in from zero, and then find a way to shoot it all in one shot is beyond me. Iwas just happy to be apart of it. Shoemaker told me he was in a long bout of depression and making this video pulled him out of it and that's really what the song is all about - making people happy and helping each other out as humans'.

Johnny Stellard has choreographed a dance to 'Remember the Day' from Shoshana Bean's album, Spectrum. The video, which tells the story of a lesbian couple, features Alicia Albright (Frozen, Wicked) and Ashlea Potts (Ogunquit, Cape Rep).

Bette Midler is set to perform at New York's Pride Main Event on Saturday June 29 at the Javits Center, according to Variety. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, she'll perform accompanied by "Hairspray" and "Mary Poppins Returns" composer Marc Shaiman. Midler's special performance is set for 11 p.m.

The Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival today announced its cast line up for this summer's Shakespeare by the Sea 29 production of William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. The free, outdoor event is presented in partnership with Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation on July 11 - 14 and July 18 - 21 at the Seabreeze Amphitheatre in Carlin Park, Jupiter.

Montalvo Arts Center invites movie-lovers to sit under the stars and enjoy classic movies with Sunset Cinemas. Part of its Summer Nights Series, the free screenings of The Wizard of Oz, Grease, and Jaws will take place on the front lawn of Montalvo, where guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or low chair to set up. Beer, wine, and snacks will also be available for purchase on-site.
