There are certainly plenty of movie-to-stage adaptations that have appeared (and continue to pop up) on Broadway, but few can boast being one of the most jubilant and unabashedly open-minded as the gloriously glam 2012 hit KINKY BOOTS, the Tony Award-winning stage musical adaptation of Geoff Deane and Tim Firth's 2005 independent cult film inspired by actual true events. Everyone loves a little nostalgia, especially when it comes to their favorite television shows and movies growing up. For millennials and Gen Z-ers, these probably include a few DCOMs (Disney Channel Original Movie) and series. Several of the stars of these films and TV shows have gone on to further their acting and singing careers on Broadway, and some even got their start on the stage. Below is a list of stars that you may or may not know have a few theatre credits under their belt!

Broadway Soprano & Master Voice Teacher Mary Setrakian is currently embarking on her LET THE SUN SHINE U.S. & Australian TOUR, with Musical Direction by Matt Rofe. LET THE SUN SHINE is slated for Sydney Opera House on July 28th, 2019.

With a legendary book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, Chicago is now the #1 longest-running American musical in Broadway history.

Opening July 5 at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, Murder for Two is a musical murder mystery full of invention and humor. Book and lyrics are by Kellen Blair, book and music by Joe Kinosian. Murder for Two runs July 5-27, with performances at 8:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Two preview performances, July 3 and 4, begin at 7:30 p.m. Opening night is July 5, at 8 p.m. Murder for Two is directed by Sam Scalamoni, with music direction by Gary Adler.

The 72nd Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 10th at 8/9c hosted by Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. We can't help but wonder what chances this year's Best Musical and Best Play nominees have of taking home the ultimate prize...

Il 30 aprile, Bebe Neuwirth e Brandon Victor Dixon hanno annunciato i nomi delle opere teatrali (play e musical) in diretta streaming. Noi di BroadwayWorld non stiamo piu nella pelle! The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center is happy to announce the full line-up of its annual PEN World Voices International Play Festival. As part of the 2019 PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, the International Play Festival presents play readings with some of the most significant theatre artists from Germany. All six playwrights are part of the Gorki Theater in Berlin-a safe haven for immigrant, refugee and international theatre artists in Europe. Legendary Artistic Director of the Gorki, Shermin Langhoff will join in conversation about their work. The Festival aims to enrich awareness of global dialogues, by bridging American audiences and international theatre-makers. All readings will be followed by discussion.

The 2009 film Nowhere Boy, about John Lennon's teenage years has been acquired for development as a stage musical, according to Deadline. The rights have been acquired by producers Brian and Dayna Lee of AF Creative Media, and Robyn Goodman and Josh Fiedler of Aged in Wood.

Brooklyn's Brave New World Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce Shakespeare on Stratford, a FREE family friendly birthday bash in honor of Will Shakespeare on Sunday, April 28th 2-4pm. In a h/t to Shakespeare's birthplace Stratford Upon Avon, the celebration is set to take place on Brooklyn's Stratford Road in Ditmas Park/East Flatbush.
