Former costars Rob McClure and Maggie Lakis are now coparents! The couple announced the birth of their first child, Sadie James McClure, born on Sunday December 9th at 9:16 AM. McClure and Lakis met in 2005 while performing as Doody and Frenchy in a regional production of Grease. After marrying in 2009, they went on to perform together in the National Tour of Something Rotten! as Nick Bottom and Bea in 2017.

Grammy Award-winner and two-time Emmy nominee Steve Tyrell celebrates his 14th anniversary performing in the Cafe Carlyle's revered holiday slot with an all-new show, Holidays at the Carlyle, November 27-December 31. Holidays at the Carlyle will feature selections from Steve Tyrell's newly expanded Back to Bacharach album, his 2018 #1 album, A Song For You, as well as various favorites from the Great American Songbook including songs he has performed in major motion pictures, and of course, holiday classics.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Drabinsky in association with Peter LeDonne and Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership.

ISLE of KLEZBOS, the swinging all-women's klezmer sextet, will celebrate their 20th Anniversary with a special concert Isle of Klezbos: Isle of Manhattan! at Joe's Pub on Today, October 25 at 7:00 PM featuring returning guest artist Natalia Zukerman. The band and spellbinding singer-songwriter - whose father, the classical violinist Pinchas Zukerman, is the son of a Polish-born klezmer player - first melded musical minds earlier this year, exploring poignant Yiddish roots and hidden gems from vintage soundtracks, personal histories, vivid resistance narratives, and soulful sounds of liberation. Spreading joy coast to coast this anniversary year, ISLE of KLEZBOS  latest repertoire also features original klezmer bugalu (boogaloo), lesser-known bawdy traditionals, and luscious retakes on irresistible Eastern European swing and tango. Natalia brings vibrant stories and tunes from her powerful multi-media performance, "The Women Who Rode Away," including lush arrangements with backing Klezbos bandmates. Greenway Arts Alliance (Whitney Weston and Pierson Blaetz, Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors) announced the cast and creative team for the THE COLOR PURPLE, which will play at the Greenway Court Theatre (544 N. Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles). Performances run from November 9 through December 9 with the official press opening on Saturday, November 10. The Tony Award-winning musical features a book by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray. Directing and choreographing the cast of 15 is NAACP Theater Award-winner Jeffrey Polk (Smokey Joe's Cafe).

11th Hour Theatre Company announces a new twist to its Spotlight Series. This annual series of one-night only events, designed to put local favorite musical theatre performers front and center, will now feature some up-and-coming Philly artists that the company thinks audiences should get know. The evenings are hosted by 11th Hour favorites. All of the performances will coincide with 11th Hour's Next Step Concert Series. These special events will be performed this season at The Proscenium Theatre at The Drake, 302 South Hicks Street. The first one is Monday, October 8 at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $24 (including service fee), and $19 for industry tickets (including service fee). Veteran Broadway press agents Jim Byk and Shane Marshall Brown have created The Press Room, a new theatrical and entertainment publicity office now open in New York City. Founders Byk and Brown are joined by publicist Kelly Guiod, who serves as Vice President for the company.

The Neighborhood Playhouse at 340 East 54th Street (near 1st Avenue) in New York City will be holding a memorial to honor Tony award winning director Vivian Matalon on Monday, October 8 at 7PM. As part of the "Ailey Ascending" 60th Anniversary celebration, the Choreography Unlocked Festival of performance, conversation, and master classes will take place at Ailey's home across two weekends - October 12 - 14 & 26- 28. Building on the success of the New Directions Choreography Lab, created by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Artistic Director Robert Battle in 2011, the festival will elevate The Joan Weill Center for Dance's role in the community as a hub for creating and presenting new work and fostering the next generation of choreographers.  

San Francisco Opera unveils a new production of Giacomo Puccini's Tosca on Wednesday, October 3, with a cast led by Italian soprano Carmen Giannattasio in her Company and role debuts as Tosca, tenor Brian Jagde as Cavaradossi and baritone Scott Hendricks as Baron Scarpia with conductor Leo Hussain leading the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and Chorus in his first performances with the Company. Puccini's monumental work, which has a distinguished history at San Francisco Opera, will be staged by American director Shawna Lucey with new sets and costumes designed by Robert Innes Hopkins and built entirely in San Francisco Opera's scenic and costume shops.

Three-time Tony Award-winning actress, singer, and dancer Chita Rivera performs for one night only alongside music director and host Seth Rudetsky on Saturday, October 13 at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA at 5pm and 8pm.  Produced by Mark Cortale Productions, the performance is the first in the new 'Broadway @ the Huntington' series.

After a season of thrilling and diverse programming,The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. (Linda Shelton, Executive Director), New York City's premier presenter of dance, proudly kicks off its 2018-2019 Fall/Winter Season with the return of the wildly popular NY Quadrille, which had its debut in the fall of 2016. Curio Theatre Company opens its 2018-2019 Season with an American classic. The company's 14th Season, begins with a beloved Arthur Miller work that audiences will see through a new lens. The Green Room 42 - Broadway's newest intimate concert venue - will present Nathan Lee Graham, the singular Grammy Award winning performer from Zoolander, HBO's "The Comeback," Broadway's Priscilla and more, in the world premiere of his first evening of all theater music "All Things Bright and Beautiful: A Sondheim Salon" on Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 PM. From the dramatic ballads of Follies to the comedic highlights of Forum, Graham will perform a vividly creative cross-section of the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer's most beloved creations. After a whirlwind year in which Graham was nominated for a Lucile Lortel Award for the hit Off Broadway musical The View UpStairs to starring in the Fox TV series "LA to Vegas" opposite Dylan McDermott, Graham will present a romantic, 19th Century-style evening featuring songs such as "Loving You," "Bounce" and "Being Alive." He will be joined by musical director Tracy Stark on piano with Peter Calo on guitar.

Informed by experience as a witness to affronts to democracy today, Gessen has often urged people to open their eyes to such challenges, and to use their imagination to picture what is further at stake. Many thinkers from France, America, and across the Francophone world are similarly united by a pressing concern over surging demagoguery and democracy's fragility.
