Chicago is a musical with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. It premiered on Broadway in 1975, inspired by real-life 1920s murder cases reported by journalist Maurine Dallas Watkins. Initially overshadowed by A Chorus Line, the show achieved iconic status following its 1996 Broadway revival, which went on to become one of the longest‑running productions in Broadway history.

When the original production of Chicago opened on Broadway in 1975, its subtitle read “A Musical Vaudeville.” And as distinctively Bob Fosse-style as it was (and is in this excellent touring production of the 1996 revival), Chicago has always been a slight history of vaudeville.

Richard Jay-Alexander is celebrating a milestone year of 50 years in show business, having moved to New York City in the fall of 1975, the same season that A CHORUS LINE moved into its home on Broadway at The Shubert Theatre.

Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based Ballet Excel Ohio, formerly Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet, is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this weekend with the world premiere of choreographer Erich Yetter’s Aladdin at Akron Civic Theatre.

The Broadway Ensemble Awards have announced nominees for their inaugural ceremony recognizing Broadway chorus performers. The awards will be presented April 6, 2026 in New York City.

Next month, 54 Below will present some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz, and beyond for Women's History Month, including Linda Eder, Kate Baldwin, Jenn Colella and more. 

Initially billed as a show that was 'lovingly ripped off' from the 1975 cult classic film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the Tony Award–winning 2005 Broadway musical comedy MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT™ gleefully gallops back onto the stage in a brand new production with its signature coconut-clacking bravado, irreverent wit, and steadfast commitment to theatrical absurdity very much intact. The show's latest national tour—replicating its 2023 revival directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes—continues its short week-long engagement at OC's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through February 22, 2026 (the show is also scheduled for the Hollywood Pantages Theatre from March 24 through April 12).

Presented by Lakewood Cultural Center Presents, with Performance Now Theatre Company, A Chorus Line will run Fridays through Sundays from March 13 to 29.
