This April, FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club & Private Event Destination, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz, and beyond.

Spring is in the air and Summer is just around the corner and that means a hopping theatre scene is in full force on Long Island. For the past almost seven years, I've truly enjoyed traveling the Island to tell you about the amazing shows and extraordinary talent that we have. As such, below are some of my picks for this coming season. Ok, to be honest, I'd have listed every show if I could! And soon to follow will be the picks for rest of the Long Island team - Jaime, Anthony, and Nick. We're going to be very busy bees! Can't wait! Cheers!

On this day in 2014, Idina Menzel did it all again in the new musical from the Pulitzer Prize-winning duo behind Next to Normal, If/Then.

We're going back to a sexier time - the Reagan Era - when Palo Alto Players presents the smash-hit jukebox musical ROCK OF AGES, featuring the greatest rock music of the 1980s. 

The Muny announced today that Grammy Award-winner Nathan Lee Graham will play the title role in The Wiz. Starring alongside Graham will be Jared Grimes as Scarecrow, Mykal Kilgore as Lion and James T. Lane as Tinman. In its first Muny staging in 36 years, The Wiz is the second production of the historic outdoor theatre's centennial season. The Wiz is directed by Denis Jones and choreographed by Camille A. Brown with music direction by Darryl Archibald. The Wiz is proudly sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors.

Rehearsals are in full swing for The 5th Avenue Theatre's production of Kiss Me, Kate, which begins performances next Friday, April 6.

THE BLACK BOX presents an exciting line-up of live music and entertainment events this April, bringing Broadway star Tyler Hanes, popular local artists, a signature culinary cabaret, and more to the downtown Franklin venue.

Initial casting has been announced for The Muny's production of THE WIZ - part of their 100th season. What do you get when you mix a cocktail of 21 Gershwin gems, madcap comedy, and show-stopping dance numbers?  It's Musical Theatre West's (MTW) production of Broadway's 10-Time Tony nominated musical Nice Work If You Can Get It, coming to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center April 6-22.

The addictive, inspiring art of musical theater - and some of its most beloved songs - will be featured in a benefit concert for Area Stage Company and Conservatory. Actress and singer, Gay Marshall, celebrates the genius of Leonard Cohen in Back on Boogie Street at Pangea in New York City this April. Marshall, considered a premiere interpreter of the music of Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel, was drawn to Cohen "by the glorious variety of melodies and messages in his music" says Marshall. "The process became a fascinating discovery of an exceptional artist who turned out to be surprisingly shy and funny, while introducing me to other remarkable musician-singers, like his sublime longtime collaborator Sharon Robinson."

Multi-talented singer/dancer/actor/choreographer Rome Saladino will celebrate the stylings of Grammy and Juno Award-winner Michael Buble when he brings his newest production Feelin' Good - A Tribute to Michael Buble to the Boca Black Box Center for the Arts on April 20th at 8 pm.

Winter days are drifting away to 'summer nights' at Music Mountain Theatre with the opening of the Broadway classic, Grease, beginning April 6!

Paul McGill (The Legend of Georgia McBride, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) will choreograph The Music Man at Asolo Rep this fall.  Directed by Jeff Calhoun (Newsies), the production will star Noah Racey (Never Gonna Dance) and run November 13 through December 29, 2018.  Additional casting and creative team members will be announced at a later date.

The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, a department within the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, will honor legendary Broadway lighting designer, Natasha Katz, with the 2018 Apple Award on Thursday, April 19, 2018 during an invitation-only ceremony at the Fisher Theatre prior to that evening's performance of Broadway's 'School of Rock,' for which Ms. Katz designed the lighting.

Leg Up On Life Presents MATRIARCH Benefiting Planned Parenthood hosted by Daniel Gold. Gold created Leg Up On Life wanting to create a platform for artists together of all styles to get their works out to the public while raising money for a phenomenal organizations. Matriarch is taking place Monday, April 30th, 2018 at Dixon Place. Performances will take place 6pm and 8:30pm doors opening a half hour prior. Throughout the shows there will be raffles taking place that can only be won if in attendance.

Monday, April 9th marked the first edition of the SWAP (Songs With Another Perspective) Cabaret, produced and directed by Alex Beck. Twenty-two artists sang gender-swapped songs from 100 years of the musical theatre cannon.

Souvenir.... An Evening with Broadway's Kay Cole... Souvenir celebrates her Los Angeles solo cabaret debut last year with an Encore performance. Mill Mountain Theatre proudly presents the Award-Winning Musical A CHORUS LINE on the Trinkle MainStage April 25th - May 13th. With music by Marvin Hamlisch, Lyrics by Edward Kleban, and a book by James Kirkwood Jr & Nicholas Dante, A Chorus Line tells the personal stories of 17 dancers auditioning for 8 spots in the chorus of a new Broadway musical.

Blackfriars Theatre is thrilled to present the 2018-2019 artistic season. The 2017-2018 season saw record growth and momentum under current Artistic & Managing Director, Danny Hoskins. Over 1500 Rochester residents attended the holiday production of Little Women, The Musical, Broadway's Rick Lyon will bring the original Broadway puppets to the theatre's upcoming production of Avenue Q, and for the first time in the theatre's 68-year history Blackfriars has added a third full time staff member.

Joining the ranks of the thoroughly-revised musicals is Working, whose latest cast recording debuted from its recent London cast. The musical, with a score by Stephen Schwartz and book and lyrics by Schwartz and assorted collaborators, originally debuted on Broadway in 1978, where it flopped rather spectacularly. It's a Chorus Line­-esque collection of stories based on interviews with workers from across America, from housewives to teachers to craftsmen and more.

For his Centennial, the New York City Ballet chose to honor its former co-ballet master in chief by highlighting his range through three works: the modern and minimalist 'Glass Pieces,' the fun and light-hearted 'Fancy Free,' and the classical and elegant 'The Four Seasons.' Each is distinct, and collectively the productions and the wonderful performances bring to life the work of a master.
