As the last weekends of summer come into focus, The Ridgefield Playhouse is bringing more live music to the community with outdoor, socially distanced concerts!  

The Walt Disney Family Museum will host Oscar-, Grammy-, Tony- and Golden Globe-winning composer and songwriter Alan Menken for an intimate evening of music and storytelling. Streamed live on Thursday, August 6th, this special event will be presented in two partsa?"a paid fundraising program followed by a free musical performance.

Today's episode features Tony-nominated actress Ariana DeBose! DeBose is known for her varying roles on stage as well as on screen. DeBose is perhaps best known for her role as a?oeDisco Donnaa?? in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.

The Broadway community continues to pray for Nick Cordero, who remains in a medically induced coma in a Los Angeles hospital after surgeons amputated his right leg because of complications from the coronavirus. His wife, fellow Broadway veteran Amanda Kloots shared another update today on Instagram: 'Things are going pretty well. Nick is being weaned off the medicines and machines, which is really great progress. Mental status is still unchanged, so they want to do an MRI as soon as possible to further investigate what's going on with his brain and spine, just to cover all bases. That should be happening some time soon.'

Today we rewind to 2007, when Chazz Palminteri's autobiographical one-man show A Bronx Tale came to Broadway. It tells the coming-of-age story of Calogero Anello, a young New Yorker torn between the temptations of organized crime and the values of his hardworking father. It originally premiered in Los Angeles in the 1980s, before moving Off-Broadway. After a film version involving Palminteri and Robert DeNiro was released in 1993, a musical version of the story opened on Broadway in 2016.

Ariana DeBose will be doing a live online conversation for fans and theatre lovers on the Dramaversity platform Wednesday, April 8 at 2pm EDT. This live online chat is limited to 50 lucky participants, and will be hosted by Dramaversity owner, educator and artist Scot Pankey.

Growing up unscathed in the Bronx in the 1960s was not easy. Young men had to deal with racial tensions as well as violent crime. Academy Award-nominated actor Chazz Palminteri somehow made it out successfully and, in 1989, wrote a one-man play chronicling his experiences. It did so well that Robert DeNiro bought the rights and made his directorial debut with the 1993 film that also starred Palminteri. After a ten-year development process, Palminteri's story, A Bronx Tale, was made into a musical and opened on Broadway in 2016. A dream team of creatives created a show that boasts music by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast), lyrics by Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid, Sister Act), co-direction by Jerry Zaks (Guys and Dolls, Sister Act), and choreography by Sergio Trujillo (The Addams Family, Jersey Boys, Ain't Too Proud).
