With the challenging 2020-2021 school year coming to an end, Magik Theatre has announced enlightening summer shows for families to look forward to featuring the ever-popular Charlotte’s Web.
In light of the recent news of the lifting of the Texas mask mandate for businesses, Magik Theatre announces it will stay open and in operation with the same COVID-19 prevention protocols it has had in place in order to ensure the health and safety of its actors, staff and its patrons. This includes wearing face coverings and practicing physical distancing.
The Magik Theatre's first production of the 2020-2021 season performed at the theatre features the not-so-classic tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. This comedic mix of theatre and drama, highlights two actors who play Snow White, the Huntsman, the Prince, and all seven dwarves in a funny, really, really funny way.
The Magik Theatre has announced a new approach to how it produces and presents theatre this fall, calling it Digitize, Mobilize, and Revitalize offering digital and mobile options to local families.
Just in time for the new fall school season, The Magik Theatre is opening its doors virtually by debuting its record setting performance of Dragons Love Tacos, adapted from The New York Times #1 bestselling children's book. Written by Adam Rubin, this production features iconic characters, salsa dancing, high paced antics, and of course, tacos.
As a result of Governor Abbott's recent announcement to reopen live performing arts centers with guidelines, the Magik Theatre is bringing the New York Times #1 bestselling children's book, Dragons Love Tacos, back on stage for a limited time only beginning June 13, 2020. Written by Adam Rubin, the production features iconic characters, salsa dancing, high paced antics, and of course, tacos. The production will welcome back audiences beginning June 13, officially closing out the season on June 21, 2020.
The Magik Theatre continues to keep kids engaged during COVID-19 by offering its programs on an online platform to support the community's a?oestay-at-homea?? effort. As the school year draws to a close, the Magik Theatre will present its premiere summer program, Camp Showbiz, as an E-cademy theatre option with online classes through August 21.
In support of the community's efforts to a?oeStay-at-homea?? and combat COVID-19, The Magik Theatre will offer electronic programming for families, including digital storytimes, at-home activities, and E-cademy theatre education classes. All scheduled performances, camps, and programs have been canceled through May 2020, however, Magik will resume with camps, classes and the production of Dragons Love Tacos when it reopens.

The #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon by Adam Rubin, Dragons Love Tacos, will come to life onstage this spring at The Magik Theatre. The production will feature the iconic characters, salsa dancing, high paced antics, and of course, tacos. Dragons Love Tacos will run from March 6 and continue through April 11, 2020 at The Magik Theatre. Families of all ages will enjoy this sizzling story just in time for San Antonio's very own Taco Fest: Music y Más and FIESTA.
The Magik Theatre is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Artistic Director, Anthony Runfola. An opportunity for the public to meet Runfola will be held on the morning of September 21, see below for details. Runfola, a twenty-year veteran in the field of Theatre for Young Audiences,will join The Magik Theatre in mid-October to lead the organization through its 26th season and beyond.
