Teatro Milagro launches its 2016 national tour in Portland with BROKEN PROMISES by Olga Sanchez. This original work, created in collaboration with Planned Parenthood, is based on the true life stories of teen girls who are lured into prostitution. The production runs tonight, January 14-23, 2016 at El Centro Milagro, 525 SE Stark Street, Portland, OR 97214.
2016 Fertile Ground Festival Kicks Off 1/23

Lakewood Theatre Company will be presenting four original works January 23 - 27, 2016 in conjunction with Portland's Fertile Ground Festival. Fertile Ground, sponsored by the Portland Area Theatre Alliance, is a citywide festival focused on new work in the Arts. It features world premiere projects, staged readings, developing works and a myriad of other arts events from the Portland creative community.

CoHo's New Adaptation of THE YELLOW WALLPAPER Begins Tonight

CoHo Productions' 20th Season continues with a new stage adaptation of Charlotte Perkins Gilman's THE YELLOW WALLPAPER, one of the most important American short stories of the 19th century. This world premiere production will integrate expressionistic audio, visual and movement interludes with the haunting literary text. Sue Mach's adaptation, conceived by Grace Carter and directed by Philip Cuomo, features Carter, Chris Harder and Christy Bigelow. The production runs tonight, January 13 - February 6, 2016.

Well Arts Institute to Stage BREAKING RANK at Milagro Theatre This Spring

Well Arts Institute is partnering with Returning Veterans Project and Wise Counsel and Comfort to present BREAKING RANK, written by female service veterans. The play will explore the experiences of women in the U.S. Armed Forces: some have survived tours of duty in combat zones, some cope with military sexual trauma, all of them share what it was for them to be living and working in a male dominated environment.

Fertile Ground 2016 Launches in January

Now in its eighth year, the 2016 Portland-grown Fertile Ground City-Wide Festival of New Works continues to flourish planted in a town of prolific playwrights, abundant actors, innovative dancers, talented designers and adventuresome producers. With a wide variety of new producers, along with several returning companies, FG16 brings dozens upon dozens of new artistic works from Portland's teeming jungle of artists to thrive on stages, nooks and crannies all over Portland for 11 days from Thursday, January 21 to Sunday, January 31, 2016.
