Benjamin Cardozo, was an extraordinary Hispanic/Jewish judge, whose tenure on the Supreme Court still influences the laws we live by today. And yet, his story is unknown to most of the people who benefit from his work. Marrano Justice presents a riveting vision of the tensions and difficulties of race, freedom, love and dignity - framed by flashbacks and hauntingly beautiful Ladino music. Cardozo's story echoes many of the themes at play in our country today.

This brilliant musical by the great contemporary composer Stephen Sondheim re-tells the fairy tale stories of the Brothers Grimm - a princess who must run at midnight and loses her shoe, the childless couple that must lift a curse by an evil witch, a boy and his beanstalk, and that little girl in the red cloak on her way to grandmother's house - in a musical that explores both the whimsy of wishing and the darker side of the forest.

Beowulf Alley Theatre, 11 South 6th Avenue, begins the new season with the Tony Award- nominated, Arizona premiere of SHINING CITY by Conor McPherson. Preview is Friday, September 10th with Opening Night on Saturday, September 11th and will run until the 26th. They will be a reception after opening and a post-show discussion on the 12th. Ginger Rogers danced her way into our hearts in the arms of Fred Astaire, setting the gold standard for grace and elegance on the silver screen. In her surprising true-life story, we follow her from the vaudeville stage at the age of 15 through her ascension to Hollywood goddess. BACKWARDS IN HIGH HEELS tells the story of this legendary dancer, singer and actress through the music of some of the 20th century's greatest composers and with plenty of dance numbers worthy of the Hollywood icon. BACKWARDS IN HIGH HEELS plays in Tucson at the Temple of Music and Art from September 10 through October 2. It continues its run in Phoenix at the Herberger Theater Center from October 7 through October 24. The Tucson media sponsors for the 2010-2011 season are Tucson Lifestyle, KGUN9 and MIX-FM. Arizona Theatre Company's season sponsors are I. Michael and Beth Kasser.

Prescott Fine Arts Association begins its 2010 - 2011 Season of Readers Theater presentations, in association with the Prescott Public Library, with the American classic, SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 26th, located at the Prescott Public Library. The play is written by Edgar Lee Masters, adapted by Charles Aidman and directed by Herb Voss. Admission is free though donations are appreciated. A discussion of the play will take place at the conclusion of the reading.
