Brian Skerry comes to the Mes Arts Center Monday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. Skerry is a photojournalist specializing in underwater, marine-related subjects and stories. Since 1998 Skerry has been a contributing photojournalist for National Geographic magazine, covering a wide range of assignments. Skerry's ability to pursue subjects of great diversity is unique within the field of underwater photography. His focus includes nearly everything in the sea, from whales, billfish, tuna, and sharks to fleets of deep-water shipwrecks worldwide. While on assignment, he has lived on the bottom of the sea, spent months aboard fishing boats, and traveled in everything from snowmobiles to canoes to helicopters to get the picture. He spends months at a time in the field, and in the course of any given year frequently finds himself in environments of extreme contrast from tropical coral reefs to diving beneath Arctic ice.

Youth Works theater troupe presents The Adventures of Pinocchio and The Further Adventures of Pinocchio Puppet Show. Both are written by local playwright C. L. Johnson. The Adventures of Pinocchio is the classic story retold with the original Italian zest about learning and choosing between right and wrong! While The Further Adventures of Pinocchio follows Pinocchio as he battles for his freedom from the Puppet Maestro. Both performances take place in the Italian village of Collodi (an homage to the original Author of Pinocchio Carlo Collodi). The Adventures of Pinocchio perform March 9 - 25 and The Further Adventures of Pinocchio perform on Saturdays, March 10 - 31 in the McMillin Theater.

Mildred "Babe" Didrikson excelled in basketball, baseball, track and field and golf before her death in 1956 of colon cancer at age 45. America's first female golf celebrity in the 1940s and early '50s, Didrikson won 17 straight tournaments as an amateur before turning pro and was one of the founders of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). Prior to that, she gained two gold medals and one silver medal in track and field in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics.
